My guess is that he may take less money in order to get a chance at a championship. That does seem unlikely.
The Lakers are not only over the cap, they're over the luxury tax threshold too. The only way the Lakers could outright sign him is if he'd take the $6.3M Tax payer mid level exception. That's obviously not going to happen so they'd have to trade for him. So, what do you propose that the Lakers would send back that the Wizards would want? AD? Is Lebron, Beal and Westbrook a contender?
Honestly the Lakers should do a S&T LeBron-Beal swap, ride out Westbrook's expiring and rebuild around two second bananas (AD/Beal) in summer of 2023. LeBron gets to end his career the same way MJ did--in a Wizards uniform and spending time yelling at an underperforming big (Porzingis/Kwame).
If that is our draft I would be very happy and role with Boban and backup C or get one in FA some good ones.
any talk of the rockets trading up to a pick in the lottery using their other first rounders or assets?
Interested to see the protection on the pick. This actual trade makes me feel a bit better as all the talk of Grant fetching a top 10-ish pick in this draft when all we could get for C-Wood was #26 didn't set right with me as I see them as fairly similarly valued players.
I think most believe that he intends to re-sign with Washington. Opting out and then signing may give them a little more flexibility this offseason.
Completely crazy thought that would never happen, but I would do... haven't checked figure but should be close... To Phoenix John Wall Eric Gordon Jae'Sean Tate #17, #26, Unprotected 2023 #1 To Rockets Chris Paul Miles Bridges The real desire is Bridges... here's how it works for Phoenix... Frees up cash to resign Ayton giving them him and Booker long term with opportunity of 3rd star in 2023 draft or free agency. A Wall/Booker backcourt could work for a year. Wall is a poor shooter, Booker is good catch and shoot. Wall is a better defender than Booker. Gordon gives them depth. The picks this year give them cheap depth moving forward so they could add a max guy to Booker/Ayton and the Rockets pick which could be a Paul injury or age regression away from top 5 again. Rockets forego tanking but limiting risk of giving up high pick... Chris Paul Jalen Green Miles Bridges Paolo Banchero Alperen Sengun 6th man KPJ I think that could be a contender potentially... Paul's deal falls off about when Green gets extended... opportunity for cap space then... Phoenix would never do but I would if I'm Houston...
It appears Det. is also getting extra 2nd's and 2nd pick swaps as well. MUCH better than what we got for C-Wood. I'm back to being a little bummed out as I don't think Grant is THAT MUCH more valuable than C-Wood.
the pick is only top 5 protected but it is Milwaukee’s pick. Still that is a lot more than we got for Wood.
The 1st is two years away and unless Giannis gets a tumor or something it's likely no better than 15. I agree though, Grant on offense is like Wood on defense. He had one good offensive season and they got suckered into paying him. 40 million in cap space sounds like a run at Ayton possibly... that changes dynamics of the deal...
