Phoenix eh? Maybe it's for Ayton in a S&T? Semi-seriousness aside, maybe we'll get Saric and Payne back. I don't see Phoenix trading Crowder and Payne fell out of the rotation during the playoffs with Shamet playing a lot better in the reserve role. Saric has value as a floor spacing 4.
If we trade Gordon to the sixers would you guys prefer #23 or Bassey/Springer? I like both those guys. Tough call. Probably the pick if it helps us move up or land a player who falls this year. Wouldn’t mind taking a shot on Springer he’s still so young. I like Bassey too
This makes sense. Payne's contract is technically until 2023 - 2024, but only 2 mil is guaranteed that last season.
I hope we get a future pick if we are moving EG to the suns. While I’d like to add some veteran depth to this team, I’d rather add assets for our rebuild. If it’s Philly I wouldn’t be scared to add another draft pick in this draft and see what happens, but wouldn’t want to take back longer term contracts.
I don’t want another developmental 6’4” shooting guard. So not high on Springer (wasn’t high on him last draft). Haven’t seen Bassey play but if we got the 23rd pick for EG, I’d think that was a decent return.
imo stone and feetitta need to show some balls and not be so damn focused on clearing our cap space for 23 . Like who is gonna come here ? What good FA are even available ? we need to use that space to pick up some assets for taking on Undesirable contracts .
No way. By 2023, we need to be in a position to make a big move, whether that be by trade or free agency. Our picks start going to OKC after that, so we’re screwed if we stick with perpetual acquisition mode.
I have to counter this thought process with the fact that defense is cultured and tough to learn and even tougher when the whole team is clueless to where they should be and worse yet when there is no paint presence to deter the proverbial layup line .... The next step in the evolution of Green, Sengun & Christopher is figuring out how to make stops. We know these kids can put the ball in the hoop .... but they have to become competent defenders if they are gonna be real championship contenders and its nearly impossible to do that when you are as young as this roster will be next season with no veteran voice. If we want to see the type of culture we've all been begging for to be built around here, it starts on the defensive end and the guy in the middle. If you don't land one of these guys in the draft (Chet / Williams / Duren) you need to pick one up in FA just to stabilize the defense which is said to be your big focus this year. That is NOT saying we need to go spend max money on this type of player, far from it. I'm thinking that MLE money is your maximum allotment on the position.
I would take the pick but I would love to see if Morey could give us a future 2023 pick, but I think the nets have the rights to take their next year pick?
Brian Windhorst: There’s been rumors about teams interested in Eric Gordon. I’ve heard Philadelphia and Phoenix. Philadelphia I heard offered something around the 23rd pick. I’ve heard Houston is not interested in another pick in this draft. They got 3, they don’t want 4. Tim MacMahon: Houston, they are absolutely certain that they can get a 1st round pick for Eric Gordon. I’ve got information that they have choices on the table right now. Perhaps they’d prefer a future first rounder. They value Gordon as a role model, his professionalism. Spaces the floor, doesn’t need the ball in his hands. He can also help a bunch of playoff teams. Can still guard. BW: Good contract. 2 years left, 1 year team option, not fully guaranteed. TM: I talked to Gordon when I was down in Houston. Essentially he said, they could guarantee his (2023-24) $20.9M salary next year; bare minimum if he’s on the roster he wants that to happen. He told me he likes being in Houston, he’s happy there but he said we’ll see what kind of commitment the Rockets want to give me. It’s up to them. He’s not extension eligible until ?September? 3rd. “So it sounds like you want an extension if you’re going to be in Houston?” He said it’s going to have to be something like that. It’s a tough situation. When you do a rebuild, it’s a long term type thing. If it’s a long term plan for those young guys, I have to know there’s a long term plan for me too. It makes sense for everyone, whether it’s before this draft or before the season, the Rockets need to cash in that Eric Gordon chip, get a 1st and give him a chance to be on a playoff team.
Lionel Hollins was rumored to be tapped as an assistant. Maybe shape up the defense. https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/20...mentum-in-houstons-assistant-coaching-search/
Apparently we have a ton of offers on the table but the rockets FO don't want another pick this year, also some guy said EG likes being here and knows a rebuild is going to be a Long term thing but he wants to know how committed the rockets are Keeping him around to teach the young guys how to be a pro.
Lulz at Gordon thinking any team is going to give him that option year at $20M. I think the common thought is the Rockets would take the Sixers deal if they can package 17 and 26 into the lottery.
