Assuming the heavily protected 1st round pick from Detroit conveys. If it doesn't, the Rockets also gave up the 16th pick in the 2020 draft for nothing in return other than Wood.

I would rate the value of those protected picks as ~low 1st rd picks. I'm not downplaying them just acknowledging it had lower value than a pick that wasn't as protected.

It took 2 of those protected picks to get #16 (Sengun).

In hindsight it seems like great value for a player who has shown promise in Sengun but at the time it was 2 protected 1st rd picks for a mid 1st rd pick. That only happens if those protected picks have lower value.

Let’s not be scared of picks! Okc just traded #30 for a future 1st. Granted they had to take back a good player and deal a couple 2nds but let’s be smart!!!

His personality is of an Alpha. Its why he pouts when he doens't have the ball. If he's the third option he's gonna pout even more.

Nope, wasn't a 1st round pick. The Blazers had already selected Isaiah Stewart (at #16), which we just acquired his rights via another trade w/ Portland for Covington two days earlier on Nov 22. Blazers clearly dumped him as did we.

My point is the CWood transactions resulted in a slight upgrade or at worst, it was a wash. Even if that protected 1st doesn't pan out, we would have had Issiah Stewart instead whom we'd probably have cut by now anyway.

Now John Wall, THAT is another story!
