Did his agent leak this request/meeting? I know leaks often just happen, but I don't see how the leak about the meeting helps anyone? It is basically burns everyone. To some it makes the franchise look bad, and others it makes KMJ seem petulant. Also it basically reduces his trade value, and given how one of Stone's major flaws is that he often will just wait it out to trade someone instead of cutting bait earlier. Oladipo and Wood are examples; and Gordon seems like another.
TBF. This sounds like more at the exit interview or at another meeting shortly after where KMJ sat down with FO/coaches and was just straight with them about what his role if supposed to be and if they really want him as part of the teams future and and when -- and what needs to happen to get there. If anything that conversation is one that every player and franchise FO should be happening at an exit interview with a guy at KMJ stage to just to make sure everyone is on the same page and understands each other. It clears the air and allows both side to pursue a mutual result. Who knows how much if trade was requested, broached or discussed in that conversation. He still may be moved, but this seems like a bunch of smoke about nothing.
Well, sure. That is what they are building to. They have every incentive in the world to win games then. I thought the question of tanking involved this coming year. In any case, I want Silas to play his young talent as much as possible right away. I want them to build a defensive identity and we need to see real progress in implementing his offensive system in year 3. They can improve for the long term and still lose at a good clip to stay in the high lottery. In the next off-season after this, they can make some serious roster upgrades with Wall off the books and trade assets to play with.
Oh I remember it very very clearly. I’m actually surprised more people don’t mention it in KPJ debates. It’s not like he just had one one court issue. He’s had at least two super unacceptable public displays on the rockets. No idea what happens behind the scenes but if he does something like this again I will be joining the trade or cut KPJ train. It’s not fair that he’s held to a different standard.
I mean I like KJ and all but if his name isnt Kenyon Martin Jr, we wouldn't be having this thread at all. He would just be a run of the mill super athletic sf who is undeveloped in many areas
Honestly the more I think about it the more annoying I find it. You're an under-sized second round pick that hasn't even earned a starting role on the worst team in the league and you think you can ask for a trade? Such a bad look.
What do you expect? KJ wants out, his dad wants him on another team. Want to know where the rumors of bad culture come from? It comes from a guy who is unhappy with his minutes. I'm sure if he works hard it pisses him off to see guys who might be late to practice getting that to slide - he complains to his dad, and his dad who is plugged into the NBA and his agent - you see how this stuff goes. Frankly, it's silly for him to complain about minutes when he has come so far from a player that was not even early second round. 20 minutes a night isn't good enough for him but he's not going to get more at NOLA. He has value though and that's fine, I think Houston is in a good position.
I do rember this season,in the game.threads, if Green was having a bad game you would be commenting the entire time. However, when he was having good games people were saying "Where's Bobby?" because you were oddly missing. Coincidence? Perhaps.
I don’t blame KJ at all for wanting out…he just simply doesn’t have the clout to be doing what he’s doing he’s only got a couple of years left to establish some sort of value for his next deal, and as a young guy, I’m sure he wants 30 minutes a night, especially when he’s on such a terrible team it’s not like he produces like a scrub when he’s out there or hasn’t been deserving of more minutes
Why was some 25 y/o no-name they picked up off the scrap heap like Gary Matthews getting more PT and starts than KJ?
there were plenty of minutes for him at SF this past season as for this upcoming season, Idk what the final roster will look like so I can’t say right now
