Because you hadn't posted it when I responded, it wasn't an intentional slight on my part. We can talk more later, maybe, but I'm pretty burned out on this whole thing and am ready to forget about Watson, outside of his looming suspension helping the Texans in the draft pick area.
Good post, Watson is in the gray zone. With no laws broken, we are talking about "inappropriate" and or "marginal" behavior. If accusations are true, he was clearly "out of line." Since "sex for hire" is so available in the world of the rich (and almost everyone else), it is hard to understand what he was thinking. Why did he approach "allegedly" legit therapists for acts that are routine in shady massage parlors. Could he have been that naive? I know that if I were his attorney I would not have allowed this to go on for so long. Bite the bullet and settle with a obscure apology. Move on.
That's false, sexual assault and sexual battery are not "gray zone" or "marginal".... it's illegal behavior. Just because a rich and famous athlete can convince a politician to punt the case and let them get away with illegal predatory behavior doesn't magically make it legal. The ONLY scenario where you can argue no laws were broken is if you believe that EVERY Watson victim is completely lying. It strikes me as pretty misogynistic to take the word of one man over 20+ women.
He should be suspended until the cases are settled. He put himself in this situation and for the 1st time in his life he should have to face the consequences of his perverted actions.
I generally really like your posts, but no accusation that I am aware of rises to the legal definition of "sexual assault or sexual battery." Are you saying that two grand juries didn't know the Texas Penal Code?
Well then you are just unaware of the allegations. There are allegations that he forced his penis into the mouth of at least one of the women, that's sexual assault, and there are multiple allegations of him rubbing his dick on the women or shooting semen on the women without consent, that constitutes sexual battery. In fact, most of the allegations are sexual battery. When it comes to a grand jury, they are almost a rubber stamp for whatever the prosecutor wants to have happen. The prosecutor can make their case as strong or as weak as they want by showing or hiding evidence to get a certain outcome. There's almost no scenario where a prosecutor "fails" to get a grand jury indictment if they actually wanted to get one. The entire thing is in secret, so they can completely misrepresent evidence or allegations in any way they want without ANY repercussions. There are multiple reasons why a prosecutor would want to make these charges go away, at the end of the day, they are politicians that need to get re-elected.....which means they need to keep the donor class happy. You don't do that by pushing for charges against a player the local NFL team is actively attempting to trade. There's just WAY too many local donors tied to the NFL franchise, it would be political suicide. On top of that, even if you get the charges, you are going to face a "dream team" type defense scenario and you wouldn't want to risk losing the case. I could have (and I'm pretty sure I did) told you that they'd punt the case from the start no matter how much evidence they had. It was just too politically risky.
You left out the fact that the majority of these women were working in an illegally in a manner that is without a doubt known to be associated with sex for money. That in itself created doubt in the validity of their accusation. You can argue it didn't but you would be wrong,
People who think like you do is a large part of the reason Watson chose these women to be his victims.
Why hasn't Buzbee filed the 25th and 26th lawsuits yet against Watson, or named the Texans as a defendant in the lawsuits yet after saying he would do so soon?
People can say whatever they want to say, but without physical evidence or witnesses, there is no legal remedy at least criminally. I am by no means a big Watson fan. I believe that where there is smoke there is likely fire. He sure offended a huge number of people, so his behavior was not only creepy but well planned. I am just saying that based on my twenty years working in the courts that the case is not as legally "clear cut" as many are making it.
. Law Enforcement had to shutdown Backpage completely and Craigslist massage / rubdown ads because of rampant prostitution ads. Many of those providers migrated to Instagram, There's a reason Watson went looking for these unlicensed therapists online and yeah it's gross.
Yeah this is gonna take the suspension heat down bigtime. Smart move on Deshaun's part. He got paid and so this settlement just became the price of doing business.
I really can’t wait to see the takes about all these women getting exactly what they wanted from all of this in the beginning…to get PAID. Mission Accomplished
