Exactly. I find it amusing that the 7 footer thing has become such a big deal. I mean, with the things they can do, who cares if Hakeem was 6-9 or 6-11, Durant is 6-10 or 7-0, and Curry is 6-2 or 6-4? If Paolo can do all the things they say he can do, I'll be extremely happy to have him even if he is 6-8 (without shoes, that is).
Wingspan and agility are more important than your height. I remember Shelden Williams got big head and his standing reach was a big disappointment. It just sound better when you got a 7 footer. That's why they listed Hakeem and Duncan 7' so they will have two 7 footers on the lineup.
I couldn't care less how they are listed as if those numbers on paper actually makes a difference. The 7-foot standard is as arbitrary as things like triple-double. Is 10 rebounds really infinitely more impressive than 9 rebounds and just the same as 11 rebounds?
Paolo has said by name he wants to play with KPJ(of course its now deleted but falling to the rockets is his dream.
I look at it differently. The pro-Chet camp likely are OK with, maybe even prefer 7'ft" guys. The fact that Banchero (now with shoes) is a 7 footer also. So pro-Banchero guys can't sling the reason of 7' ft" injury prone, because their guy is also a 7-footer. It comes down amount of weight that's hanging on the joints. Banchero is currently at 240-250; which I think is OK, the hope is he stay near it, and not gain too much after. Ben Simmons suddenly packed too much muscle after NBA draft. He put so much weight on his feet, that his body wasn't used to it; got injured; missed the first season. AD bulked up last couple year, and his performance went off a cliff. In the NBA: speed and size > mass and size.
Banchero looks leaner in the pics I've seen of him after the college season, but maybe it's just me imagining that. Where he put on some weight seems like immediately after high school or something. Maybe added another 1-2" (or more?) in height, too.
As much as I would want it to work if/when we draft PB5 the writing will be on the wall for Sengun. Especially if we trade up to draft Eason. Not sure how long we would keep a starting 5 core of KPJ JG Eason PB5 Sengun Before we trade Sengun for an upgrade
It may not work. But both guys are very talented and it's worth it to watch for a year to just to see what happens. I don't think either of them is going to hurt their value alongside the other one. I want the 4/5 and then 5/4 pick and roll with Green, KPJ and some 3D beast.
I kind of doubt a trade for Jokic is going to happen, so it's very unlikely they'd be able to upgrade from Sengun.
We should go all in one more year or tanking for Victor he is the upgrade we need could play him at the four spot if we want to keep Sengun in the starting line up at five and move PB5 to the 3.
Don’t forget Scoot. Green and him could end up being a top 5 back court of all time. Perfect compliments to each other. Those two players. Sengun and Paolo along with the best defending SF and backup SF along with Christopher and Garuba off the bench would be sooo good.
