Just got done talking to my dad on WhatsApp. He's in Hong Kong and because of the pandemic and travel restrictions I haven't been able to see him in person since Christmas 2019. His health isn't great and travelling a long distance is very tough on him and I'm thinking he might not be able to come back to the US even to visit. Also given his age and health situation I'm coming to terms that the end is sooner than later.

I love and miss my dad and the last two years have really driven home how tenuous and fragile things can be. How disease and global politics can keep us away from the one's we love.

Cherish your fathers while you can because they won't always be here.

Because men don’t shop sales and their wives are mistakenly taking the day off to be there for them so they aren’t shopping either except for last minute ****.

In reality, men just want to get a little extra sleep then be left alone for the day.

Happy Father’s Day to my Dad and all those fathers who’ve passed on. A typical outing for us today would have likely been going to Grimaldi’s for a pizza and beers.

Now it's technically the day after, but it was nice being taken out to dinner by my daughter. She's a great kid. Well, she's in her 30's now, but I still think of her that way. As for my own father, I wish he was still living. It's been 40 years since he passed away, but I still think of him on days like this, and of things I wish I'd thought to ask him while I had the chance.

Gloria's in the Domain. It's Central American food, which I like. My significant other suggested it to my daughter, but none of us had been there before. They're both vegetarian. I'm not and my son's not, but he lives in Dallas...Dallas! The burdens I carry. You have no idea. Anyway, Gloria's is OK. I wouldn't rush back, though. Food was kind of boring. It was packed though.

Did Shiloh start you off with the wheat grass juice?

"I know the food doesn't sound good but it tastes good and is good for you."

You: "Can I get a burger and fries, Shiblow?"

You look nothing like this dude.
You are not a genetic freak like this dude.
You are not disciplined like this dude.
You don't have the diet of this dude.
You don't take care of yourself like this dude.
You are not the exception to the rule like this dude.

Other than being a human, you have nothing in common with this dude.

Slept until 10:30, got up and drank some coffee. Went to lunch with the family at 1 (the wife drove so I could have some drinks), came home and sat by the pool until 6, got cleaned up and sat on the couch watching the Astros with my boys.

It was literally the perfect Father's Day.
