New Center? Garuba and Sengun faints.

Guess they're looking for a rim protector possibly to fit for Banchero.

Probably looking for a backup for Sengun since Garuba is probably at least another year away from being ready for a bench role.

    I appreciate it.

Just to be clear though, I don't have a problem if you post a relevant paragraph or quote. I just don't think it's fair to post full articles or bulk of articles that are behind a paywall.

I'd be down to take a flyer on Bamba. In part because I like his song. I also think bringing in a veteran defensive center to help mentor our young guys would be helpful. It's invaluable to have high character veteran guys in the locker room (part of why I think we've kept EGo around).

Why wouldn't they target a center in the draft? If Williams or Duren even fall to 17 my goodness, how do you say no?

Say yes to Boban but man, if they take some middling ass 6'4" guard instead I'll be a one man riot.

A name that wasn't mentioned that I really like is Gorgui Dieng.

Shot 42% from 3 his last two seasons, is a plus defender, a good rebounder, and was buried on the bench behind Clint/Okongwu last season. Would seem like an ideal veteran backup big for Sengun. I also like Dedmon who is a similar player and would likely be available for similar money (BAE)

That being said, if we do get Paolo, give Garuba a role, Boban would likely suffice as depth.

Spending big money on a free agent center is just not a good idea when we’ve got Paolo, Sengun and Garuba to develop, and the position is being phased out of the modern game. Short term contract and low cost; that’s what I’m looking for. Honestly as useless as Boban is, why not just keep him on the roster if we are worried about center depth. Guys like Robinson and Bamba are gonna command commitment type money; it doesn’t make sense for us.

I thought Sengun The Great was the center…and Boban?
And they signed a center last year (and then traded him)
And just traded their other “center” (even though they didn’t want a pick in the 20s)
And I thought Garuba was a “center”?
    And what about Bruno Fernando(FA)?
And they aren’t interested in centers from the draft.
But they want to sign another center?

At this point, we just need filler. No reason to spend deep IMO, look for a hidden gem.

I don’t get this front office.

Drafting Garuba was pointless if we never give him the required reps to develop. Just keep Boban as depth — he’s an expiring and it doesn’t conflict with 2023’s cap space. This isn’t hard.

And if Pablo Ranchero is a greater Terrence Jones, who was a lesser Dwight Howard, does that make him an equal Dwight Howard?

i agree, if we can get him for the midlevel i think we have to do it. sengun and paolo are more offensive fours, we need a defensive five with a 3. hard to find those that are good. we do need to be competive after this coming year after all.
