I met Eric Gordon twice this week as he came to my business and I had to ask him if he’s staying with us. He doesn’t want to leave and he said “I don’t know man will see i’de like to stay here” really really cool dude.
3 FRPs for OG?!? I would happily send EGO a FRP, a talent of their choice (Garuba or even Christopher), and Tate or KJM
OG is a stud and the whole league knows it. I’d love to have him, but the only way is that unprotected 2023 pick. The other stuff won’t get him. Toronto loves him and rightfully so. I don’t think we give up that 2023 pick for anything at this point. As much as I love our core we will be solidly in the bottom 5 next year with virtually no veterans in the lineup and a very suspect coach. Victor is special and no matter the odds Stone is going to take his shot and I don’t think if we protect that pick 1-3 will we be able to get the caliber of OG.
I think Toronto would take our 23 frp top 4 protected for Anuoby. Nice player but thaylts a premium asset.
If they were to pull off that trade (and assuming they get Banchero at #3), what would you predict their draft position to be next year?
EG, Tate and filler or EG, #26 and filler for Charlotte’s lotto protected 2023 1st rounder via Portland and Bledsoe (expiring). This is a deal Portland may realistically consider.
Bledsoe and EG are almost equivalent. That’s the problem I see with all of the teams that need a “win now” player… they all already have someone pretty close to Gordon on their roster already.
Offer Gordon with the 17 or 26 depending which team it would be for their pick next year. For example Gordon and 17 for the other teams 2023 pick and a pick they own from another team. If the Rockets get their own top 5 pick next season. You could consolidate the other 3 picks probably into another top 7 or 8. Use cap space and the team would be loaded albeit very young.
I love the whole "we can't ditch Gordon for a late 1st bc that's too many picks in the same year" excuse and then that's exactly what they do with Wood. I know that Stonetitta would say "well we're clearing out space for Paolo by getting rid of Wood who's a bad influence" but, this 26th pick is as fungible as whatever they would've got for Gordon, who is also eating up time better spent on young players.
Who are you targeting with the 7th pick? Who would you be targeting if they kept the 17th and 26th pick?
https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/christian-wood-just-told-me-he-hopes-he-stays-in-houston.316027/ I don’t think he’s going anywhere soon though.
Maybe even better. OG, KPJ, Green, Banchero, Sengun. Banchero and Sengun are high IQ players so the lack of seasoned vets may be not as detrimental. OG instantly upgrades your defense. Perfect SF for us. That’s why it would be a real gamble for Toronto. That pick could be at the end of the lottery. Top 4 protected I think will kill the deal, unless they just can’t afford OG. I don’t know their cap situation, but they are only a player or two away from serious contention if they keep OG.
Philly makes the most sense for Green and the #23. What would the holdup be? They don’t need the pick this year and he’s a solid replacement for Green anyways. Gaining the 23 this year is still better than keeping Gordon who might say anything to be nice but I can’t imagine he doesn’t want to contend right now.
