He made profits off it his entire Presidency through his hotels and Trump owned businesses. He's made millions from schmucks sending him money since he lost. He's made millions of his Trump souvenirs and stupid hats and flags. It's one giant con. Suckers born every minute.

From the transcript of yesterday's hearing:

    PETE AGUILAR:

Make no mistake about the fact that the Vice President's life was in danger. A recent court filing by the Department of Justice explains that a confidential informant from the Proud Boys told the FBI that the Proud Boys would have killed Mike Pence if given a chance. This witness, whom the FBI affidavit refers to as W1, stated that other members of the group talked about things they did that day and they said that anyone they got their hands on they would have killed including Nancy Pelosi.

W-1 further stated that members of the Proud Boys said that they would have killed Mike Pence if given a chance. We understand that Congressional leaders and others were evacuated from the Capitol complex during the attack. We'd like to show you what happened after the Vice President was evacuated from the Senate.

how do we know they wouldn't have had a failure of nerve like the would-be Kavanaugh assassin? in which case it would be a big nothing-burger, just like the Kavanaugh "assassination attempt" quote unquote

i dont know. he went along with everything trump said and did for four years and even initially went along with the election fraud lies.

he didnt do anything heroic or extraordinary on january 6th. he did what he was supposed to do.

and where is he now? he should be giving his account of what happened in those hearings, but instead we get his subordinates. he should be speaking out trumps lies and how he put his life in danger. but he remains silent.

it shows a high level of cowardice on his part. or political opportunism, which probably doesnt make any sense being that he is persona-non-grata with the trump cultists which means he has no chance to get elected ever again.

if youre really concerned about all the info getting out (we all know you are not) then you should also be upset with trump, pence and the others who are refusing to testify. you should also be upset with all the republicans who are blocking and demonizing the investigation after initially condemning trump for what he did on 1/6 and supporting an investigation (we all know you are not).

He did the right thing on Jan 6th and that's about it, just days before he was telling the crowds that he didn't believe the election was fair so I dont give him a pass, but I will say he did the right thing, was it for the right reasons or he knew that it would not go through and he would be the one to be in the crossfire and not Trump. Either way, he is either delusional or stupid, but if tries to run for President I would fear for his safety, the base wants its pound of flesh for trump not being in the white house and they are not bashful about it. The nice folks who were visiting on Jan 6th were chanting to hang the dude......so, you really want to get out with them and on top of that you will have to keep talking about this and by the way Trump and company will label you a P****........oh wait, he`s already told you that

I agree. I guess what I mean is that compared to many others surrounding Trump he is going to come out looking pretty good for not giving in to Trump’s demands. He looks better today than many republicans in congress who still will not speak out against Trump. Pence DID speak out publicly that Trump was wrong, not many Republicans have even done that.

I don’t really view him as a hero, but I think history will be kind to him, and I think he will eventually be seen as someone who chose country over party.

Yes. Pence holds the honor of being cowardly but less cowardly than others.

Where is he now? Why is he not testifying?

The committee is doing ok, but we should be getting the BIG people to testify.......

Because unlike the would-be Kavanaugh assassin, these guys had a mob support team, and encouragement from the president of the United States.

The mob didn't beat or kill Congresspeople because security did their job and got them to secure locations. They did not know they were within 40 feet of Pence. Do you really think people who beat cops in order to break into the Capitol were just going to stop, shake hand and take a picture if they found their target. Your argument is not rational.

you're right, the would-be Kavanaugh assassin got his encouragement from the Senate Majority Leader. good point.

Not even close to the same. The president pre-planned, actually said that Pence deserved it, and list of other things. The Senate Majority Leader definitely should have spoken differently.

He didn't tell the would-be assassin to fight, March down there, and all of that. I won't defend the Senate Majority Leader's words but comparing his actions to what the former President did repeatedly over a period of time despite knowing he was wrong while saying the Vice President deserved it and waiting for hours before telling the mob that that they were beautiful and he loved them but that they should go home.

I think it is well and good to criticize Schumer for his speech. But it doesn't rise anywhere close to Trump's prolonged campaign and intimidating threats.

I didn't say they were the same. But the logical inconsistency of those who would only fault Jan 6 rioters/insurrectionists and downplay the significance of the Kavanaugh assassin is what I have a problem with.
