I've scheduled my surgery for July 12. I met with another specialist in regenerative therapy to get a second opinion before I go for surgery. He said what I expected. There isn't enough cartilage left to regenerate. The doctor I met specializes in Platelet Rich Plasma treatment (PRP which sounds pretty interesting and might try it for some of my other joints that are degenerating. https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/hea...d-therapies/plateletrich-plasma-prp-treatment
I had a full thickness tear repaired in 2007. Doing the rehab work is key to getting back to full range of motion. I was back to normal in 6 months or so.
I'm about to hit month 11 rehabbing a torn ACL. Had surgery last july. I'm back to 99% and can do anything prior to injury better but it took a lot of work. PT is good, but the gains come from consistently doing your exercises outside of rehab. It's taken me 11 months of working out 5 days a week + weekly PT to do it but i'm glad i did. Most people stop early and that becomes their new normal for the rest of their life. It'll be hard but its worth it in the long run. Good luck!
Had my surgery yesterday and according to the doctors it went well. In addition to the rotator cuff they cleaned out a lot of bursitis. They used a neural block that basically numbed and parlyzed right arm from the neck down. That worked very well for blocking the pain but since that wore off the pain has been back and the pain killers they prescribed have not been very affective. Going to try dealing with them for a day before talking to the doctor if need something stronger. Had to sleep propped up on the couch but a friend is bringing some pillows that his wife used when she had rotator cuff surgery so hopefully can sleep in my bed tonight.
That sucks that they didn't give you an iv ball with enough drug to last 3 days like they did with me. Definitely if you don't have an adjustable frame bed you need to prop yourself up with a ton of pillows. Hopefully the pain will subside in a few days, good luck!
