That would be nice for the Rockets. The 3rd and 4th picks sounds exciting to me, especially while retaining our 2023 first round pick.
We all know, no matter who we get at 26, if Silas calls his name, he’ll get up and head towards the court. This is a highly underrated quality amongst CWooders.
#3 - Paolo Banchero #17 + #26 - Tari Eason/Mark Williams EGo > Kai Jones or JT Thor + salary filler (trade w/Hornets) #3 - Jabari Smith #17 + #26 - Tari Eason/Mark Williams Tate + Bucks FRP > Jalen Johnson (trade w/Hawks) #3 - Chet Holmgren #17 + #26 - Tari Eason Tate + Bucks FRP > Jalen Johnson (trade w/Hawks)
Isn't it irrelevant? Wood was in his final year here, and plays the position that we want our #3 pick to get heavy minutes at. I'll wager #3 pick is better than CWood #26 is just a return on asset that wasn't part of the future anyway. He is an expiring malcontent who loves his own stats. Let's see how Dallas fares with him?
Too many vet 3 and 4's ahead of him. 4 - John Collins, Gallinari, Knox, Okongwu, Dieng 3 - DeAndre Hunter, Bogdan, Huerter, TLC Hawks are a deep team and playoff contender. Not giving minutes to kids when goal is to win JT all. There current needs is another vet playmaking guard that can create own shot and switchable perimeter defender. Sounds like Tate to me. Or EGo.
Not sure what the goal of the Hawks is though? They have been talking about trading John Collins for some time. Gallinari is also quite possibly done there - or continuing in a bench role. Okongwu plays almost exclusively at C for them (98% of his minutes), and Knox and Dieng have expired. Their depth at the 4 is currently Collins / Gallinari If they want to trade Collins, then who for, or why? I haven't read any trade rumors that make it look like the Hawks actually want to move him... I'm quite high on Jalen Johnson, and he excelled in the GLeague for the Hawks. They have an old-school coach who doesn't play rookies all that much, but it is very possible that Johnson is a part of their plan for this coming season in a 20 minute per game role? Perhaps they want to move Collins because they see a superior talent on their own bench... I dunno? I just don't think JJ is a realistic lowball "get" in a trade (but would be thrilled if that happened).
Number 3 pick plays the 4 , Wood plays the 5 out of position here. The move was to get something for him he is not in our timeline.
I don’t know man, he is getting his ass ran off the court at the local YMCA by dudes that work as Fed Ex delivery drivers felons fresh out of lock up. I guess he could turn it around but it doesn’t look good.
And yet Pelton liked him and the Rockets interviewed him. One of many considered near #26. Can be Jabari Smith shooting big if given the space (only 7 open shots x season per synergy) in a 6'10" frame. Sported decent defensive numbers..... 0.8 blocks to Banchero's 0.9 blocks. But yeah no speed. We shall see. Maybe we going #3 Ivey.......#17 Tari Eason.....#26 Patrick Baldwin or #3 Ivey....#17 Tari Eason......#26 Kessler / Koloko / Kendell Brown / Jovic / Nzosa / Barlow Just as easy as drafting Banchero/Eason.......and then guard at #26 depending on who's big board you are looking at and if we move back further.
In the modern NBA, the 4 also plays the 3. Christian Wood wasn't played out of position, he just sucks wherever you put him. He sucked at the 4, he sucked at the 5. He just isn't very good. 7th team in 7 years. Luka should be able to bring out his talents on offense, but I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a crappier player to have in a rebuilding situation where you need to develop rookies with good habits. Not to mention all the off-the-court stuff that our insiders have hinted at...
Didnt he test at like the bottom of all criteria for athleticism measurements at the combine? Or something crazy like that?
Lidell and Jovic didn’t receive green room invites, which means they have a chance to fall past 20. As much as I don’t like Jovic’s lack of D, he’s a great pick at #26 given his upside. Assuming those two are off the board I like Christian Braun; he’s a two-way player, size to play the 3, and a legit dog. I didn’t watch much Notre Dame this year (part of being a BC guy), but everyone says Wesley has one of the highest upsides in the draft. Mostly I’d love to convert #26 into a future draft asset.
I like the idea, but I don't think that's enough to get them No. 4. I can see it being just enough to maybe get No. 7.
#3 = jabari, chet, or paolo #17 = Eason, Terry, or Dieng #26 = Jovic, Liddell, Laravia Lots of talk of trading up from 17... I think it would be easier to trade up from 26. maybe tate/26 for 18 or 19 makes sense for both teams.
