I think most of the country believe Trump should be charged and convicted. The others either don't care, are brainwashed, or are just gonna defend that party no matter what.

 

You're more hopeful than me lol. I think most people (when polled) would say that; but people also have short attention spans and don't seem to understand that the government is neither omnipotent and also large enough to do more than one thing. When I talk to those on the left of me, they make it sound like if we prosecute Trump we'll never do things like handle student loan debt (not that I think that will ever be handled in a satisfactory way).

People have such a misguided and warped view of how government actually functions to the point that when people ask me my line of work I lie and say I'm an accountant. No one wants to argue with an accountant about how debits and credits work but if you have even the slightest connection to government everyone is all of the sudden an expert.

 

I'm sorry, is protesting supreme court decisions the same as a former president challenging the multiple century long tradition of peaceful transition of power and ignoring election results to the point of creating a angry mob who believes an illegal usurper is about to enter the white house?

It actually is illegal to protest outside of the home of a judge with the intent to influence his position, or outside the court for that matter. 18 U.S. Code § 1507 - Picketing or parading | U.S. Code | US Law | LII / Legal Information Institute (cornell.edu) I don't think it should be, that seems like protected speech to me unless it crosses the line into criminal threats, but that is the state of the law. I think Trump was hoping counter protestors would show up but no one did.

 

So Trump knew what he was ordering was illegal and he ordered it anyway. Pence fulfilled his oath to the constitution rather than the President.

There is witness testimony that they were intent on and would have killed Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi.

Personally I think people's homes should be ethically off limits but I'm all for free speech and feel like the justices, judges, or other public or government officials shouldn't have any protections not afforded Doctors, businessmen or any other citizen regardless of their position or occupation.

 

Well @StupidMoniker, did you see the videos and texts at the hearing today? The evidence presented shows how wrong you were assuming the mob wouldn't harm Pence and others.

Not only did those White Nationalist types say on video they were going to drag them through the streets, the Proud Boys told the FBI they “would have killed Mike Pence if given the chance. Anyone they got their hands on they would have killed, including Nancy Pelosi. They got within 40 feet of our Vice President! 40 feet away screaming "Hang Mike Pence."

The scariest part of all is how Trump threw gasoline on the fire with his Tweet about Pence after watching them storm the Capitol. What kind of sociopathic move is that?
