It's win-win-win. Whichever of the 3 are left on the board at #3 both fit and are phenomenal players. If it's Bancharo, awesome. If it's Chet, awesome. If it's jabari, awesome. The only way to screw this up was only if they were considering anyone but those 3.
Remember all the warnings before this period started, don't believe ANYTHING anyone says prior to draft. Agents are pushing hard to lobby their clients. Wooing these so-called draft analysts who switch their draft orders multiple times is simple puffery.
I am also loving Paolo …. but I suspect it is at least partly because he is likely the one coming. If I’m being honest with myself, if I thought we were getting Jabari or Chet I suspect I’d be all in on them as well.
To keep me interested. Add another curveball like OKC does. I said it from the start that Stone is too predictable. He likes flash but most importantly his Seattle ties are a dead giveaway. Paolo, Eason, Beauchamp. 2 of those guys are very likely Rockets.
Things changed when the deep dives began to take place instead of just debating about stat sheets and volume vs efficiency. When the in person workouts started Paolo appears to have blown the doors off each gym - add to that he's a legit 6'10.5 barefoot? Kid is still growing! Wish he was still viewed as a "flawed" one way player with no upside - starting to get the impression Stone will have to move up to get him.
Well not even Banchero specifically. If I rated any of these 3 as the clear cut favorite for my team, I’d sell pick 17 to guarantee I could get him. I don’t think the Rockets will do that but I’d understand the logic. As is we sit in a position of having to make no decision which is great in its own way.
I guarantee nothings changed. Paolo is still consensus #3 unless a team has its heart set on #1 scoring option and trades up. Paolo not going #1 to ORL no matter how much I want it to happen. Stone considers in person workouts to be 1% of draft evaluation, that is how little the workouts affect top 3 prospects ranking.
I agree. But Stone only GM who would trade up to #1 and take the guy he could have had just sitting still at #3.
I still think Jabari, Chet, and Paolo will go 1 2 3 in that order. There is word out there that Sacramento prefer Murray over Ivey.
I am the same way with these 3 i could and would be stoked for any of them. I have my order of preference but dont think that have really have any idea or am confident. I just think that Jabari would be the perfect person to have on a championship team. Especially when you consider how many assets the Rockets have in the coming years to fill in the rest of the roster. Take the seemingly perfect shooter that has length seems to be intelligent with a humble personality paired with work ethic. Chet could easily be as good or better than the other two I am just scared of eventual serious injury.
Probably, but nothing’s guaranteed with OKC sitting at 2. Maybe Orlando doesn’t want to be the decision maker and would he happy moving back to 3 if we throw in the 26th pick. I think you do that and guarantee you get whoever you have at #1 on your board.
