Boban plays sparingly. Always ready to play (one reason everyone loves him) but sometimes goes month(s) between games. Rockets didn't get Kleber, so easy to keep him from getting minutes.
The actual win-loss with and without says otherwise. But it is what it is. Wood is out so a big is all but confirmed as #3. All the Ivey talk was nonsense.
Not sorry to see him go. Sengun has to take that next step and we need a good draft but I don't think replacing soft wood will too hard.
Pretty sure the rockets wanted to scare OKC in staying put at #2 if Ivey was/is their guy... Because if the Kings rumors were true then I could only see the kings jumping up in the draft for Paolo, I already posted the tweet before from April but the rockets have been linked to wanting Paolo for months even with the first pick over Chet, Stone has his type of players he likes to build around.
I have called this out before Green/KPJ look way better when wood is not out there calling for players for himself or being a ball hog, you can go back and find my post in the games when wood was out and how happy i was when KPJ/Green looked like a better backcourt.
I think this was a good trade for us. Wood was not a guy we wanted to keep around long term. We got a FRP back ( another asset) and we got 4 guys that are on expiring deals (let them go to open cap space or include them in trades to make deals work). We are in year 2 of the rebuild so its all about assets and keeping space open to make moves when a star becomes available down the line. So lets sit back and see what happens next week, maybe we move up now that we have extra assets.
I think this trade is a good indication that the tank is rolling on for one more year. Likely consolidate 17 and 26 into 1 FRP. So next year: (trade Gordon) KPJ, Green, Tate, Banchero, Sengun Jaygup, KMJ, Garuba, Matthews, FRP Next year jettison Tate and Matthews add a top pick and two max FA. So many possibilities. Wemby or Scoot from the draft Jokic, Wiggins, Middleton, in FA. Going to be a lot of fun this year to watch huge minutes for all the young cats and knowing that the upcoming off-season is going to be exciting with Wall off the books.
Depending on how you feel about what the Rockets gave up to get Chris Paul, the last "good" trade Daryl made was Corey Brewer/1st for Lou Williams at the 2017 deadline. Most after that were just roster churn that didn't move the needle one way or another.
I mean after the cp3 trade, it's nearly impossible to make significant moves handcuffed by LTS and a dumb owner. He was forced to scrape the bottom of the barrel clearly. Which are reasons why he left. Full context matters, So grading "good trades" after that point doesn't really say much
How much money will we have to sign a player in free agency now that Wood is off the books and we don’t keep the traded players?
even more evidence that getting rid of him was a great move take that 20 and 10 and toss it into the dumpster out back he can’t even be bothered to set a good example for the young guys…I wouldn’t want any of the kids taking cues from him
How can this be a bad trade for the Rockets if it’s clear that nothing better was gonna be offered? Doubt they had anything better when they shopped him at the deadline Are people grading this trade based on the fan fiction they created regarding what Wood’s value is? Christian Wood was expired wet dog food, not Wagyu beef
