Oh yeh. That is the recipe for success in Dallas. Have Wood bring the ball up and post up Luke.

    Eek

This is what happens if you evaluate trades based on box score stats.

What gap do they have now? Odds are Paolo or Chet will slide ride into the role Wood had. Garuba and Sengun will also be getting minutes at 4/5.

Yup. Could have had a pair of firsts for Wood before last year. Instead they kissed his ass and he laughed when he blew assignments on defense, pouted to get the ball more and refused to check back into the game.

It was cute that Stone acted like he was interested in extending Wood thinking that would drum up trade interest.

    He doesn't watch the Rockets.

Every single Houston Rocket gets a boost with this deal. The backcourt, the frontcourt, the locker-room, etc. We saw it last year. It was night and day for KPJ/Josh/JG.

Playing Paolo+Sengun+Garuba is a massive upgrade. I could see us adding a Williams/Duren/Kessler, too.

Wood for number 26 and Boban.

I'll internet fight anyone that says otherwise.

I don't really understand what people were expecting in a trade with Wood. He was suspended by the team for a game last season. He is in a contract year and is going to be asking for a lot of money. He has health issues and his skill set has never lent itself to winning. He has nice stats on paper, but his limitations are known around the league.

Getting a first rounder and expiring contracts is a great haul in my eyes. We were never getting a lotto pick.

What the hell are you talking about? You're contradicting yourself.

How is trading a player who you described as being a valuable contributor- for a pick making moves like a contender?
Making moves like a contender would be trading the 17th pick or a young guy for veterans to play next to Wood.

I think you just like disagreeing with people, lol. That or you base rebuilds off of how they work in 2K where you just turn the team around in 2 years of constant trades.

The Rockets could have received more for Wood if we were able to trade him this past season. At this time he is an expiring contract...unless a team is desperate...we were not going to get a first for Wood during the upcoming season. In addition...with Sengun and the next PF the Rockets draft with the#3...the Rockets would not have extended Wood.

I haven't watched the Rockets on TV in about 4 years, since I cut the cord. Why was CWood so bad? Coulda sworn posters were happy when we acquired him.

Technically this still can become a bigger deal since it can't be finalized until draft night. Has happened in the past so just cross your fingers.

Braun will probably be around at 26 if they want to go that route. He's projected late first/early second.

His attempts at spreading misinformation this year have been WAY too obvious. From the BS he floated about MAYBE wanting to hold on to Wood, or the BS that got floated about MAYBE being interested in taking Ivey at 3....it was always obvious those stories were nothing but a weak effort to boost the trade value of guys like Wood who he desperately needed to trade.

Obviously nobody that mattered bought it for a second. There was never a scenario where Wood was still on this roster when the season started.

Especially with guys like Ayton and Zion possibly being available (although I don't think either one gets traded this offseason) as well as Mo Bamba, Mitchell Robinson, a draft with considerable young bigs in a league where almost everyone plays without a two big starting lineup. I think we were really spoiled during the early Morey years where he'd somehow turn VSpan into a starting PF or turn an injured, expiring McGrady into what seemed like a really good haul at the time.

Wood's deficiencies are no secret across the league. It's disappointing but not all that surprising this is the return you get for a guy who gets 20/10 on the worst team in the league and isn't know for his defense, screens, or team basketball mentality.

It is what it is, at least we didn't let him walk for nothing.

I'm surprised we even got a first after he pout and legit quit on the team one game.

Who would have given up 2 firsts for Wood? I'm actually trying to think when a player of his caliber has garnered 2 first rounders.

Actually I'm happy with this deal, particularly if Stone and co. draft another sleeper like JC. Wood only has one year left on his deal so it was unlikely to get more than a late first for him. Plus his defense and not checking in that one game set his value lower than most of us would like to think.

Really sad that the Christian Wood era of him scowling his way up the court and notching double-digit deficit double doubles is over.

A first round pick is a win... Nobody else wanted him
