This also gives them the minutes to play Garuba more. I'm not ready to give up on him and the defensive skillset that had us all super excited about him a year ago. I'd love to see a 3-man big rotation of Banchero, Sengun and Garuba next year to see how those guys play off one another.
People need to remember this if he does play decent for Dallas. No matter what there just wasn't space on this team, he had no reason being here, was slowing down our backcourt and would be taking minutes from Sengun and whoever we draft next week AND is due for a big contract so we were going to lose him after next season anyways. But I do look forward to the "Shouldn't have traded C.Wood!" threads that will pop up after he has a hot week or two.
This trade sucks. I don’t like it at all. I know people soured on Wood, and I get it, I really do, but the return for a guy with his skill is straight up shitty.
Somewhat frightening to look at this trade and realize that Marquese Chriss was drafted 8th overall and Trey Burke was drafted 9th overall. I just hope the majority of our picks pan out in the long run.
Good trade. Wood gone, cheap contracts and a pick in allows for more trade games to be played. Once we see who is at #3, the rest will be gravy.
Spoiler LOL but really, I will not miss that Scottie Pippen face Spoiler Nor the trade proposals. “Wood for 2 of Kuminga/Moody/Wiseman? Who says no?” “So are we getting three or four first round picks for Wood?” “Wood for the 7th pick?”
I’m truly excited by a big 3 rotation of Sengun-Garuba-Paolo (or Jabari/Chet for that matter). We may not win a ton more games than this year, but it’s gonna be a fun watch and the long term upside is huge.
I'm not so sure there is something else lined up, other than kicking the can to next year. Not that it won't ultimately net us something good, but I would have thought we could get more, too. This just looks like needing to get rid of him before the draft. Maybe they will be able to turn it into something this year. Is there a trade up that makes sense? This isn't the NFL where you need to fill a 53-man roster. What team needs multiple late picks instead of an early one?
I'd imagine they waive all 4, all are on expiring deals. We need the roster spots for our rookie class, 2 of which may start.
After a single weird, shortened re-building season? I can't criticize the FO for not moving Wood then.
Quick question. they say this deal isn’t official till after the draft. So Dallas picks for us? What if we want to package a deal etc.
