If @Codman is correct and Wood wants to be featured like Dwight, maybe it won't be such a hot relationship. I have huge doubts that J Kidd will get that man to play defense regardless that he is going to a team with aspirations.
don't know why folks are all assuming wood is going to thrive. Dallas is getting a dollar menu version of KP. And we saw how that worked out and their ceiling wasn't great. get into the playoffs as a lower seed. early exit. Dallas still needs an actual star next to Luka
That killed me every time, so many fast players on the team and instead this MFer would just kill fast breaks for no f'n reason.
Weird trade. Looks more to get rid of Wood. I thought they would hold onto him until trade deadline as he's just one roster spot/expiring contract. Hopefully can get Dalen Terrry or a trade like OKC for a future pick. Not hopeful on a trade up as would be lucky to get up to 15.
we’ll see maybe here he wanted to be featured like Dwight since we suck and aren’t playing for anything, and this team is a bunch of young and unproven guys In Dallas? He starts talking reckless like that, he’ll be met with swift stfu’s and gtfoh’s. Luka should keep him relatively well fed, and Kidd is at least an All-time great and champion as a player, so he’ll command more respect than someone like Silas who is well, yeah… Dallas did improve their defense mightily with Kidd as coach going from 21st to 7th, so he must be doing something right
honestly, with Wood gone my patience for KPJ just got a little better. 5 yrs younger and plays D, plus he’s restricted. I’m interested in giving him this year to see what happens. The locker room just improved.
I think this is a good trade for Dallass, but I don't think Wood makes them a true contender. I think they still need another piece or for some of their guys to take a leap....Especially if they don't retain Brunson. From the Rockets perspective, I am not upset nor blown away...I am glad Wood is gone...The way he played here irritated me to no end and I think this opens the door for the young back court of KPJ (maybe) and Green to take ownership of the team. My hope is that this trade is just a precursor to another move. If we could even just move up a few spots to like 12 that would be nice.
Wood and Gordon are very different players. Just because you get a first for one doesn't mean you're getting a first for the other. I think many of us were surprised when the best Houston could get for PJ Tucker was a pick swap. That might be the best they can get for Gordon, and if they can actually get a first for him, they should. There is if you're not going to get much value for him. If ultimately the best you can get is a second rounder or a late pick swap, that might not be worth moving him just to move him at the moment. We don't know for sure what the offers were for the trade deadline last year, but if Stone felt like it wasn't worth moving Gordon, maybe it wasn't. If he doesn't get moved because a deal isn't there and stays on the roster through the trade deadline, I can live with that. Because, again, unlike Wood, he's not hurting the development of your young players. And if there's a poo poo platter of so-so assets on the table right now, that same platter will likely be there at the trade deadline next year. If Gordon plays through the entirety of his contract with Houston, and they get nothing for him, I'll probably be upset. We're not there yet.
What a steal by Cuban. A good set up for Wood. His flaws can be hidden as it's not going to fly with Kidd or Luka when Wood attempts to go Magic Johnson. And he might just make an effort on defense with a winning organization. Would should be happy. I wanted at least a 15th=(
#FreeEG he needs to go at this point, EG’s situation is like when the teacher puts all your friends in 1 group and they’re all having fun, and you’re stuck in the other group with a bunch of people u don’t really know or hang with aside from his 4 year stint with Harden, EG has played on losing teams his whole career…send this man on to greener pastures, he’s been down in the slums enough
yeah, I couldn’t watch him anymore. He slowed down the young guys. It’s time to move on and see what we do in the draft. Wood was never a part of this teams future. Who cares what they got back. stack those picks and let’s get a legit rookie.
being different players in this context doesn't really matter much. Their situations are essentially the same in respect to their worth to the Rockets and the fact that they're in a full rebuild and everyone out there knows it I wasn't surprised. PJ is an aging role player. who only has value to a playoff team so that in itself limits offers. Also a player who had no business being here and it was clear PJ wasn't going to stay. that shouldn't have been surprising at all. keeping him means you made the wrong decision and you end up with nothing. that's not justification. that's just a forced hand because your decision backfired. And we do know there were 1st round offers that clutch already posted. that in itself should have already been done.
