What I said was we got Akeem and Sampson after 2 years of tanking. ...and that was the last time this team has tanked before now. I didn't imply that Jalen Green was the next Ralph Sampson. You made that leap on your own.

    Try to keep up.

Fun fact: The NBA changed the tanking rules because the Rockets tanked to get the #1 picks.

More nonsense. There’s nothing to keep up with stupid posts. LMAO at your “fun fact”. This coming from a idiotic opinion reference. The irony. So dumb

fact: the rockets have the worst record and worst team for 2 years and counting. They’ll continue to suck and you’ll still be asking but why because you’re years behind

I was comparing the MJ Bulls and the Pops Spurs for 3rd place all time.

I think you missed my original post or response by @DrNuegebauer .

Who would have won a heads-up matchup between Pops Spurs or MJ Bulls? I've learned to never count out Pops when he's got the right staff. The Bulls don't sweep that series. Bulls would have had no answer for TD (just like they had no answer for Hakeem). Bruce Bowen could have done a respectable job against MJ.

Now I literally don't think you understand the difference between fact an opinion.

Fact: 1983: Rockets tanked to get the #1 pick
Fact: 1984 - Rockets tanked to get the #1 pick
Fact: 1985 - NBA changed the draft rules to institute a lottery rather than straight picks based on record
Fact: The Rockets finished last place in the NBA 4 times (1983, 1984, 2021, 2022)
Fact: 1985 - Rockets finished 2nd in the division
Fact: 1986 - Rockets advance to finals and lose to Boston

Opinion: Rockets will continue to suck.

My Opinion: You are likely correct that the Rockets will not make the finals in 2 years. However, I'm confident the Rockets will not be dead last for a third straight year after acquiring all this talent and having a couple years to gel. Will they even make the playoffs next year? Doubtful but maybe now that they have the play-in format.

Would be cool if you chill out on the personal attacks. What makes Clutchfans a great place is people mostly can communicate respectfully. Let's keep carrying on that tradition, shall we?

Opinion: "you have no business talking..."

Try using some facts, rather than emotion.

That's because not all lottery picks are created equal

Yea, I know. Point being, after this draft, the team is sufficiently restocked so there is no motivation to keep tanking. So I doubt we'll be dead last this season. Hopefully we make it to a play-in game, or better. We'll see.

I'm sorry that relevant facts are not enough for you. You can't please everybody. I'm moving on.

Feel free if you feel like you need to "get the last word in".

if you think what you've been posting is relevant well that's just part of your bad posting tbh

prime example of what contributes to the board going downhill. hakeem/ralph. the league changed the draft rules because of the rockets. pure nonsense. but apparently relevant per you.

Strategic tanking IS investing in a winning culture.

"After the 1984 coin flip, which was won by the Houston Rockets, the NBA introduced the lottery system to counter the accusations that the Rockets and several other teams were deliberately losing their regular season games in order to secure the worst record and consequently the chance to obtain the first pick."

    NBA draft lottery - Wikipedia

Feel free to check the references for further clarification.

In 2017, The NBA Board of Governors today approved changes to the NBA Draft Lottery system that will reduce the odds so that the teams with the three worst records will share the same chance of receiving the No. 1 overall draft pick. The modifications to the NBA Draft Lottery will be implemented for the 2019 NBA Draft.

Changed because of the Rockets!!! 2017 season, when the rockets won 65 games and were a perennial contender. How dare they change it because of them

Huh? I said the NBA changed the draft lottery in 1985 because the Rockets tanked two consecutive seasons to get the #1 pick. That was very clearly stated as a "fun fact" meaning it's a sidebar conversation. That fun fact has nothing to do with last year. However, notice the "factual" part which is supported by actual evidence since you refuse to accept it.

The actual point I'm making is the Rockets tanked two years in a row in the 80s and then the team improved, dramatically.
I'm hopeful that history repeats itself. That said, I freely admit I doubt we'll be in the finals in 2 years like that team because I doubt we have the same caliber players as Ralph and Hakeem (which were both #1 picks ...but we didn't get #1 picks this time ...and wait for it, because of the draft lottery instituted in 1985).

I acknowledge your opinion that you don't think this team will improve at all this year. I'm hopeful that history repeats itself. Can we be done now?

The relevancy of 80s is nonexistent, when this is about what is relevant to this rockets team.

Surprise. Another opinion. Feel free to drop in any sort of fact when you are ready. Until then, ciao.
