Depp's drugs and drinking problems were well documented. I remember people reporting on them dating back to the sets of Pirates. He was reported hung over on set, had verbal fights with director(s), Depp shouting at film crew, and stories of being very difficult was widely reported. Studio execs had to come and step in. Deep's bad reputation was building, and studios started blackballing him, before the Depp/Heard stuff blew up.

When with Amber, Depp admittedly had blackouts and don't remember what happened during those episodes.

Heard herself is also not very sympathetic. Described as manipulative. Flings with other men. And now could be financially in trouble, Heard and Depp never had a pre-nup, she could have asked for half, but only took $7m in the divorce settlement. Depp's net worth is $150m, Amber didn't take that much (could have been lot worse). Lot of her money is likely gone from her on-going legal fees.


After this trial, she lost big in the court of public opinion. While guys like Depp and Will Smith will continue to work, she might be done in Hollywood.

And as far as JD being drunk on set etc, he always had bad publicity via tabloids like Rothenborn tried to dig up, but I remember clearly when everyone was talking about what was happening with JD physically and the talk about how much money he was spending on wine. To me, I now look back and see a victim of abuse that was depressed and falling apart and mentally and physically exhausted while AH who was allegedly taking massive beatings and SA was tip top shape looking perfect for the cameras through all those years. JD was silently screaming during their entire relationship.

I was even willing to accept during the trial that he likely lost it at some point and did get violent as is the case with a lot of victims who one day have had enough, but only cabinets suffered his violence and they stayed on their hinges to open and shut another day.
