Anthony Davis averaged 28 points on 66%TS in the 2020 playoffs. Chet doesn’t need to be creating from the perimeter like KD to be an offensive star.
I think Paolo goes #2 and we take Chet KPJ- 6’6 Green- 6’6 Chet- 7’ Wood- 6’10 Sengun- 6’10 That’s a big lineup. I love versatile guys like Paolo but I would love to have Chet as a 3&D small forward. Chet would be perfect to defend other forwards like Giannis, Tatum, Lebron, KD, etc Paolo would be the best pick offensively but I think Chet could make us one of the best defensive team. KPJ actually made a pretty impressive jump defensively. I think he could become a more offensively talented Marcus smart. Curry said kpj had that “dog in him” and I believe that despite his outburst. I think KPJ & Chet could make us a top defensive team
Chet is too good and needed of an interior defender and rebounder to play him at SF. Moreover offensively he is much better suited as a 4 to oaky some high-low with Sengun. trade Wood. Start KMJr at SF. KPJ Green KMartJr Chet Sengun of course I’d do the above with Paolo also. Just replace Chet with Paolo. And with Jabari. Basically I’d like to see those 4 guys start with whomever the pick is.
@Nook What do you think Stone meant by saying it's all right to have redundant strengths, not redundant weaknesses? It seems to me that Houston is almost locked in on Paolo Banchero.
Not Nook, but what Stone is saying is that it is okay if multiple people can do the same thing on the court. However, it is hard to hide redundant weaknesses. For example, it is fine having 5 guys that can handle the ball on the court at one time even though only one can have the ball provided enough of them don't have weak shooting when off the ball. Another example is potentially Paolo and Sengun. It isn't a problem they both can pass. It might be a problem if they both can't shoot or play defense.
Banchero would add to our redundant weakness of bad defense. And I say that as somebody's who's cool with Banchero at 3
Ivey isn't a great defender either despite his athleticism. I guess that might cancel his chances too. Nook said Stone likes TyTy who is likely to be available at 17. I like Paolo too, if he puts in hard work on defense, he can become a capable two way player.
OKC is trading the 30th pick and two future second round picks to Denver for JaMychal Green and a protected 2027 1st round pick. JaMychal can be OKC's Paolo, this clearly shows they want Chet or Jabari with their 2nd pick to me. @Clutch
Why are we bad on defense though? Is it because our players are incapable of playing defense or because they are super young plus Woods? I certainly don't expect elite defense out of Green, Sengun, and presumably Banchero but I wouldn't presume they can't be average individually or play good team defense in a few years.
