    Sounds to me like:

    concerned citizen saw shady **** and called police

    police monitored Uhaul involved in possible shady ****

    Shady Uhaul heads toward large public gathering

    Local Police stop and search Uhaul

    Local Police do not like the looks of shady people in back of Uhaul

    Shady people are arrested, totally legitimately, and taken out of the equation of the public gathering.

    No shady **** happens at public gathering.

    Shady people will either be charged or released.

    Since these people came from nationwide, their pictures and prints are now on record nationwide.

    This seems like a huge win for the local police.

    This is the point. Bandwagoner was making a point that actual weapons would indicate much worse intentions.

    To be fair a riot is dangerous obviously, but weapons would still be another story
