I wouldn’t mind using 2023 cap space on solid role players on good deals that actually help a team win if we hit on this draft

Green will be a star, and if we draft a 2nd star, it’s time to start putting viable pieces around them and making Houston a more attractive destination

it’s still the 14th most-used 5 man lineup, 12th if you take out the ones with Theis.

There’s a huge minutes gap between the most-used and the rest. The KJ lineup had the second best net rating out of the 14 most-used lineups. The most-used had the third best net rating..

The best net rating belongs to KPJ, GM, EG, Tate, and Wood. +21.9 in 74 minutes over 7 games. Versus 352 minutes for the most-used (KPJ, JG, EG, Tate, and Wood).

FWIW. Needs context of course... Trying to give a little more perspective on the tate vs kj question.

No doubt a lot of that best Iineup sample came during Garry Bird's linsanity moment...

Garry's off ball defense is good, but when he's isolated on an island, his defense is badly exposed to say the least.

Exactly. Unless KPJ shows he can’t be a point guard we should have 4/5 starters locked in with KPJ/Green/Paolo/Sengun

We should buy the best bench we can and get this team winning. I really believe in these kids and think 2024 they could get us to the playoffs but we should use all the money we got to load the bench while the kids are still on small deals. I would pay top dollar for a quality point guard to come off the bench and mentor KPJ/green for a couple more years

I would gift those salaries to poor blue collar workers any hour of any day.

I think you give a Wood and Banchero front court a try before you trade. Banchero will guard the opponent’s bruiser, which is better than watching Wood get pounded. It’s not often when the rookie is stronger than the team’s multi year center. However, they would offer great spacing and Banchero will switch better than Sengun. Let Sengun come off the bench.
    Wood
    Banchero
    Gordon
    Green
KPJ - this line up has a lot of fire power

Neither of those guys, at this point in their career, are considering this Rockets team. Middleton for damn sure isn't leaving a championship contender that has already gotten him a ring to join one of the worst teams in the league.

Wood is a nice player, he actually puts up very good numbers. I don’t think he’s got a killer instinct, but he’d be great as a 2nd or 3rd option.

As it is, Green is being groomed to be “DA GUY”, so if Wood plays within his game and isn’t worried about having to play for a contract, he’ll likely impact the game more in terms of wins.

The ONLY issue is getting the ball out of Wood and KPJ's hands and evenly splitting the load with Gordon, Green and Banchero. Those two have a hard time not taking the shot when it's in their hands.

Although I definitely don’t want to see anyone go to jail for herbs, especially an ex rocket, looks like the Hornets may be in the market for Wood more than ever now:
    • Montrezl Harrell is reportedly facing felony drug charges and potential jail time after allegedly being pulled over in Kentucky on May 12 with three pounds of mar1juana in vacuum-sealed bags.
Harrell was pulled over for traveling too close to the vehicle in front of him and things unraveled after the officer detected the scent of mar1juana. Under Kentucky law, possessing or trafficking eight or more ounces but less than five pounds of mar1juana is a Class D Felony for first-time offenders. The Hornets have yet to comment and it will be interesting to see how this pans out going forward. The offense is punishable by 1-5 years of jail time and fines as much as $10,000, according to the Charlotte Observer.

    How about a lineup of

    KPJ
    Green
    Wood
    Banchero
    Sengun

Wood is best at defending smaller guys, Banchero can guard both stronger inside players and quicker outside players. Sengun should add weights and muscle and defend centers.

On offense Wood needs to camp out at the 3pt line. Banchero and Sengun both take turns setting picks for KPJ and Green or initiating from the high post.

It is a positionless game and we would have two really tall guys that can defend quicker players on the perimeter and shoot. It’s worth a try at least.

With the emergence of Scottie Barnes, Anunoby is Toronto’s best trade asset if the organization wants to acquire a true center and move Pascal Siakam to power forward and Barnes to small forward for more of a traditional lineup.

Wood for OG Anunoby. Maybe throw in a small sweetener.

Agree, especially if we can add a true big like Williams or Kessler at #17. And if we ever get a true PG-- true at both ends of the court-- I'll be very happy.

You’re probably right. I’d probably also swap #17 for #33 and try to get Koloko there. It would give us a center prospect on a non-guaranteed contract.

    True-
No one complains when it goes in, however the team needs to buy in. This is going to be tough that is why you need ROLE players.

Why the need for true PG if drafting Banchero?

How many facillitators/ball dominant players are needed on team with Green-Banchero-KPJ?

    Nevermind Sengun.

Yes. The game has passed guys like this that are stuck in the gotta have a pure pg dogma. KPJ and Green showed when they were unleashed what positionless basketball can be. Both these guys are going to average over 20 pts if Wood is either gone or convinced to be a spot up shooter. I expect both to get all-star votes but not quite get in. I’m pretty sure its going to be Banchero so we should be aggressive as possible to go and get Sochan, Daniels, or Murray. I would add in top 2 protected 2023 pick to 17 and Milwaukee pick, Tate and/or KJM to move up for Murray.
