    Because breakfast doesn't mean morning?
It's the first meal out of a fast...
for those who are intermittent fasting for 16 hours, it would be noon!

I had to go to a funeral in Houston and got reminded both Dallas and Houston are hell around this time. I thought I was bleeding down the back of my neck, but no... it was just sweat.

Damn! Glad we got our annual tubing trip in LAST weekend.

Speaking of which, in nearly 50 years of tubing the Guadalupe, I've never seen it that low. Walked most of the way from Party Rock to Whitewater and the 2nd crossing on the Horseshoe. They weren't even offering medium or short floats.

That happened to a group of friends and I a long time ago. Took over 9 hours. We were one of the last ones they let on at around 1 pm. Didn't get out until after 10 and we had to swim much of the way...which was not easy with tubes and coolers. Then the rental place threatened not to come pick us up since it was so late. Luckily they did. Was not my best floating experience.

Been there, I've learned to check flow rates and not go when they're not in the happy fun zone.

    Stupid La Nina.

I watched my yellow lab Sunny die today in front of me and I think this heat is partially responsible. But, the other part of it was I think she had heart failure and she was 15 years 6 months old. It sucks watching your dog die in front of you and then having to carry the lifeless body to the car to drive to the animal hospital. I did everything I could to try to keep the dog cool and calm. But, at around 11 am, my thermostat already shows 94 degrees. I also buried my parents at DFW National Cemetery just a week ago but the rain and clouds were out for that one. It was a nice 70-ish degrees. :(

This sucks. Carry on. F-ing hot weather!

Apparently, the hot weather is also messing with my Internet as it is up and down. I can't seem to post this but I'll get there.

I need radiant barrier but then my cellphone won't work well...if at all. Damn radiant heat!

My power just flickered off and then back on. ERCOT is getting ready to implode under this heat advisory and energy usage so early in June.

It's coming! The end of the world! Rolling blackouts!

ERCOT currently has a demand of 74,000MW and an available supply of 81,900MW. If your power flickered, it has nothing to do with ERCOT or the power supply.

    We have a 9% surplus? That’s it?

Are we growing capacity to meet growing demand due to the housing boom?

That's about what they run every day, no matter what the demand is at. Too much surplus just drives rates down, so there's no incentive to supply too much excess.

As to what is their absolute peak level of production...I'm not sure. I'd imagine as the demand continues to rise, the supply will as well. At least, it has thus far.

Who's your provider? In the CoServ area of DFW, groups of homes in various areas seemed to have power go out a few hours ago. Most of them have gotten power back since then, but there are still some without power. Several areas around Frisco, McKinney, and Flower Mound when I looked had this issue. It wasn't too widespread and only affected multiple locations at around 50 or so customers per location.

    That surplus/supply moves with demand.
I think we came close to breaking the record for statewide demand today, if we didn't break it, but this was expected. I think they've been expecting to break that record for at least a month or two. It could happen pretty soon and we're only in June. If I recall what I read correctly, the record was something like 74 gigawatts and ERCOT was expecting us to top 77 gigawatts this summer. They also said their generation capacity for this summer was something over 90 gigagwatts.
