The pitching has covered up our main hitting flaws in the lineup and giving the owners a false sense that the Astros are better than they actually are. I think they all assume the bats will miraculously just start hitting again, but the holes are too great for that. Maldy, Dubon, Castro are almost auto outs and Bregman and Yuli are well past the point of a simple slump. I'm hoping for a losing streak of a few more games to get this organization to wake up before the trade deadline. Otherwise, we'll still easily win the division with 90+ wins but will be exposed in the playoffs and may not even get out of the first round. We don't need power hitters, but we need guys that are more consistent and unpredictable. We could get that if Baker will change the lineup (and not be afraid to move Bregman down in the order) but that won't be enough.
I'm almost to the point of wake me up after the trade deadline. This team isn't good enough as is to get to where they want to be. Baseball is a hard to predict sport but this team is just going through the motions, especially being in a **** division.
Oh I know. I remember August of 2017. What was it. 7 in a row we lost or something like that. Spirits were down. I think even Keuchal was hinting at the team just not doing anything to help. Then they injected JV and got their excitement back. Maybe something similar will happen? I admit 2021 I didn’t pay a lot of attention to or 2019 for that matter. I just don’t recall seeing this much flatness in June. I remember August as being the month we struggled a bit. Yea. Bregman. I don’t understand what happened to him. Did her put his junk in a jar and lock it in a safe? Was Correa the teams swagger? It’s a long season. But having the marlins come in and drop a deuce on our yard is not good. Panic? No. Eyebrow raised with concern? Yes. We pulled JV off with the waiver trade after seeing our August slide. The right injection at the right time. Now they have to decide much sooner if they need something. Is Click up to the challenge?
