Agreed. Dems best chances are for the GOP to keep putting out crazy candidates and for the GOP to keep fighting among themselves over who can say the craziest crap.

I'm no expert, but something tells me that neither of those will be a problem anytime soon.

What's the House/Senate GOPs plan to limit global inflationary pressures?

Would you support national gas pricing as FDR proposed? I think there would be a lot of support for that.

Special election in TX 34 tomorrow, and it looks like Mayra Flores (R-TX) is likely to flip the seat, reducing the Democrat margin in the House by effectively two seats.

So much for demography being destiny. The so called "experts" were wrong yet again on that supposedly incontrovertible truth.

    Stay tuned...

Kamala Harris should challenge Trump to a debate

    https://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/3521707-harris-should-challenge-trump-to-a-debate/

    excerpt:

Yet history and polling strongly suggest that Democratic prospects in the upcoming elections are bleak. Today, the two-point Republican lead in the generic congressional ballot is the best the party has seen since 1938. Moreover, an ABC News/Ipsos poll finds a 20-point gap between Republicans and Democrats in their enthusiasm to cast a ballot. With numbers like these, Democrats are poised for what Barack Obama once called a “shellacking.”

The prospect of a devastating Democratic defeat comes at a perilous moment. As the Jan. 6 committee has reported, the conspiracy to overthrow the United States government is, in the words of Chairman Benny Thompson (D-Miss.), “not over.” Former President Trump, the leader of that conspiracy, has transformed the Republican Party in his image. The Republican National Committee has dutifully followed Trump’s lead, even calling the Jan. 6 insurrection “legitimate political discourse.” Each time Donald Trump has been counted out, he has bounced back. Today, 60 percent of Republicans say the party should follow Trump’s lead, and he is poised to win the Republican nomination in 2024.

Faced with these extraordinary circumstances, Democrats must take risks. One risk worth taking is having Harris challenge Trump to a joint television appearance. If Trump were to agree, this made-for-television moment would play to Harris’s strengths. In the Senate, Harris excelled at grilling hostile witnesses. One of her most memorable exchanges occurred when she quizzed an irate and stammering Attorney General William Barr for eight minutes over his handling of the Mueller investigation. That encounter went viral.

There is a precedent for such a debate. In 1993, Al Gore appeared with Ross Perot on CNN’s “Larry King Live” for a 90-minute discussion about whether the North American Free Trade Agreement should be ratified. Before accepting, Perot taunted President Clinton for “sending somebody else to do the dirty work.” Perot’s belief that he would easily prevail caused him to accept. But like Harris, Gore excelled in the rhetorical back-and-forth, and polling showed a convincing win: 64 percent said Gore “sounded more responsible”; 60 percent thought he “communicated better with you”; 56 percent said he was “more believable”; and 51 percent concluded Gore “did the best job.” Perot emerged diminished, and in 1996 his support fell from 19 percent four years before to just 8 percent. Both Perot and Trump were presidential candidates with outsized egos, and a joint Harris-Trump appearance could weaken Trump in the same manner it did Perot.

This isn't a terrible idea. Harris is so unlikable that the only way she can rehabilitate her image is to 1) juxtapose herself against an even grosser human and 2) lean into the "righteous prick/bad cop" persona. Like the article says, it's not like there's much to lose, either.

Mayra Flores is the Democrats' worst nightmare. Hispanic men have already moved away from the Democrats in droves. If the Dems lose Hispanic women, then their voting coalition falls apart for decades.

The black vote is leaking that direction as well. It does not have to be all of it. But more and more of these people are taking the red pill and waking up to smell the coffee.

The things that the Democrat left believe are fundamentally correct are consistently demonstrated to be wrong. Add the arrogantly confident Democrat left assertion that "Demographics is destiny" to that infamous list.

I'm laughing at some of these posts about Flores, really...

Taking way too much from a special election for a seat that won't exist in a few months. Apparently, the Democrats are now done for DECADES!

Mayra Flores' Victory Hailed by Republicans: 'Texas Just Got More Red'

Flores beat her nearest Democratic challenger, former Cameron County commissioner Dan Sanchez, by 51 percent to 43 percent, edging past the 50 percent threshold needed to avoid a runoff. Flores' victory in the 34th district, which was left vacant by Filemon Vela's resignation in March, makes her the first Latina Republican from Texas in Congress.

The victory will pile pressure onto the Democrats, who are trying to hold onto their slim majority in the midterms. The GOP will also be hoping Flores' victory will boost the congressional campaigns of other Latina candidates in southern Texas, such as Janie Lopez, Monica De La Cruz and Cassy Garcia.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who endorsed Flores, praised her victory and said the signs were promising for other Republicans in the state. "Republican Mayra Flores just beat a Democrat to win an open seat for Congress in an historically Democrat district in South Texas," he tweeted. "Congress just got more Republican. Texas just got more red. The future is looking bright red in Texas."

Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan posted: "Big congratulations to our newest member of Congress, Mayra Flores who joins Reps. John Lujan and Ryan Guillen in securing a major victory for the GOP in South TX. And we are not done yet. This fall, we'll add Janie Lopez to the list of successes for our party."

Sean Davis, co-founder of the conservative magazine The Federalist, tweeted that the "red wave that swept Glenn Youngkin" into office last year in Virginia, a traditionally Democrat state, is "only getting bigger as Biden's policies destroy the country."

In statement to Newsweek, John Billings, executive director of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), said: "Mayra's victory proved we have the blueprint for success in South Texas, and it sets Republicans up for even greater success in November.

Elon Musk is officially a resident of Mayra Flores district in South Texas. He voted for her in the Republican primary, which was apparently his for Republican vote ever.

Elon Musk reveals he voted for Mayra Flores with his first-ever Republican vote in Texas primary

Billionaire Elon Musk confirmed his official political stance on Wednesday morning, revealing he made the plunge into his first-ever vote for a Republican candidate and hopes to do the same in his vote for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president in 2024.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO said he cast his ballot for the first Mexican-born congresswoman, Mayra Flores, who emerged victorious in Tuesday’s special election.

"I voted for Mayra Flores – first time I ever voted Republican. Massive red wave in 2022,” Musk tweeted.

Flores on Tuesday defeated the leading Democratic candidate for an open congressional seat in a historically blue region of South Texas.

She garnered about 51% of the vote to top Dan Sanchez, who received 43% of the vote with all precincts reporting.
