Ugh. I see an awful lot of T-Jones in that shot. Get the ball... position it... think... finally put it up. I could make a sandwich in the time it takes him to put up a shot. Dude better be amazing on D.
Yeah, his release looks low and slow. That little right foot step is a bad habit. He should take that step in one motion while he catches the ball, not after after the catch.
Eason stats are great but doesn’t pass the eye test. Horrific assist to turnover ratio backs it up. He is no Sengun from the previous draft as the OP is implying.
Well he wouldn’t be the primary or secondary ball handler so not sure this really matters Passes my eye test
No better than anyone else’s. Maybe worse. It gets attention because of the wild swings, so occasionally it will hit on a sleeper. But it will also put someone like Henry Ellenson in the top 5.
According to him we should take Kessler with the third pick. With the rumors of Taris bball IQ he may drop to us but regardless we need to be aggressively angling to move up and even add another pick in the top 15.
Indicates low bbiq, which affects all aspects of the game. Ie high blocks+steals(nice stats) but high fouls (gambling undisciplined defense) may not produce a good defense in the nba(worked in college)
Totally agreed. That's why I want Jalen Williams over Eason. What impress me most is William's basketball IQ and the instinct to play with poise. He doesnt rush on his plays and make very good decisions. He will be a steal if we can draft him at pick 17.
When I look at Eason I see the unrefined Artest that first arrived in CHI Not saying Tari develops his OFF game to become All-NBA 2way star like RonRon, but on D he plays with same kind of manic intensity and effort If all he becomes is our lock-down perimeter defender between Green & Paulo, I'm still good trading up for him What gives me hope for his OFF game blossoming is the incredible jump he made as a scorer and shooter from CIN to LSU Also, like Jabari, everyone routinely seems to discount the horrific OFF 'system' he played in at LSU He had to create basically everything for himself That won't be the case here playing with Paulo, Alpy & Thrilla
He's the anti-Sengun and seems more of a project. That's not necessarily a bad thing as Eason's physical attributes are very impressive and he could become a great 3&D player. There were questions about Sengun's physical attributes entering the league.
There are so many long, athletic Fs that fit the 3&D type in this class I'm curious ... Hypothetically if all of the following were somehow on the board, how would you have the group below ranked? Here's my 2022 3&D SF Rockets Big Board: Tier 1 (tradeup worthy) T Eason O Dieng K Murray Tier 2 (stay at #17) J Sochan E Lidell Tier 3 (trade down) K Brown M Beauchamp I could see any of those 7 eventually becoming a quality starting F for the next Rox contender
eason's the type of player where it REALLY matters where he gets drafted. he's someone that needs a long term home with an already set structure to develop and have the bad habits tought out of him. places like San Antonio...Miami... Golden State come to mind. If he lands in a spot like Sacramento, Atlanta, New York then I could see him just becoming a journeyman for 5-7 years instead of a high level role player for 12 years which he well could be.
