MVP Trout now belongs to a team with a record setting 14 games in a row. Trout can't blame Altuve for this one. Dusty has lost 4 of 5 against the Mariners. If not for the implosion of the Angels, Dusty wouldn't be sitting on a big lead.
To be fair, we have had Seattle 's number for years now. It was only a matter of time before they got competitive....maybe they took them too lightly
18-1 against the Mariners in 2019 will NEVER cease to amaze me. And they were actually really hot that year until their first series against us. Granted, it was kind of unsustainable, but it gave their fans some (false) hope for a bit.
I make that same assumption. But I do wonder about the cause-effect. Did Bregman look cocky because he was successful or was he successful because he was cocky? Either way, I'd love t have 2018-2019 Bregman back. I'm sure he'd like to be back too.
By all accounts Bregman is as hard a worker as this team has. I do not expect to ever see 2019 Bregman again but I fully expect to see 125+ OPS+ Bregman soon. After all, I'm 2nd half and playoffs are more important time to be productive. As long as the team is not falling down like the Angels.
He overthinks things and is no longer as instinctive as he was when he was arrogant. Hinch sapped that away from him during the World Series.
If the next time Altuve hits a home run and Pettis tries to give him the stop sign at third, we’ll know their chemistry is really off.
At first I was like WTF is he talking about but then I remembered when Bergman carried that bat around the bases.....
It's been a long time, but I remember batters who were suddenly hot say they just cleared their mind when they stepped up to the plate. They had put in the work, their new habits became ingrained, but they cleared their mind when they hit.
I cringe every time he comes up to bat. I can't imagine there isn't some minor league out there who wouldn't do a better job as our backup.
