I like your thought process and would add this to it. Most players are placed in tiers. That said I think we should only draft out of the highest tier available is at the time of our pick. BUT there is a shooting guard, rim running center, 3&D wing, 3&D wing with size all on the same tier. Take the 3&D wing with size because of fit. Much the same way, If the tier only has shooting guards left in the highest tier take the shooting guard in spite of fit.
I’m so bored by the GARM right now. There’s only so much dissection of Banchero, Jabari, and Chet that I can stomach. The trade proposals are just as tedious. Is there any real news on workouts?
The Nets pick (use it or trade up, down or out) is where the difference will be made in this draft. (Yes #3 will hopefully be an all star) Our future is if can pull out a key rotation player with the Nets’ pick. The rebuild could strengthen us in the biggest way because every pick counts. The rebuild is over after the next draft because we gave away control of picks for years to come.
SO how do you feel knowing Jabari is not willing to work out for us just like last year with Cade, Suggs and Mobley?
Not surprised at all. CF blamed the players when those in the know understood better. This FO has a lot to do to fix its rep.
I’m more inclined to think this is just Smith limiting his exposure than something related to the Rockets. Mobley situation was different and specifically Rockets related. Jabari is almost certainly a top 2 pick and even if he isn’t, his realistic fall isn’t outside of the top 5. There’s really no risk in him working out for only the top 2 teams. You could probably make the same argument for Chet.
I mean could be that Stone only wants Banchero we were warned months ago that Stone loves hoopers, that if we got the #1 pick that we would pick Banchero over chet.. I don't know who its in the FO leaking things but Stone is an open book at this point on who he wants to draft.
Was hoping to see Rockets work out Smith but understand from Smiths perspective why he would only workout for the top 2 teams
We had the #2 pick last year and cade went out his way to not even work out for us but maybe because Cade was considered the #1 pick all year leading up to the draft.
What's going on with the Rockets right now, and having prospects skip out on workouts to end up in ostensibly less favorable situations is pretty unprecedented in league history. It's hard to read stories like the one below about players not even taking phone calls from a team; it says a lot about whether that franchise is truly championship caliber. On the other hand, it does reveal a lot about the competitive fire of the player in question. I definitely don't think someone who lets his agent and father control him like this on draft day will ever win a thing in this league.
got to stick with my guy palo banchero at 3 still want to know if anyone got a good idea of 17 and have we already worked out Jovic
