Rockets have been hated of late because Harden's style of play was hated, especially after that defense video came out. Astros hated for obvious reasons. Before the scandal they were really well liked and called by a lot in the media as one of the greatest teams ever assembled Texans - no one cares about the Texans. The Warren Moon Oilers were respected and liked. The Harden Rockets were really liked when they almost beat the Warriors, as a LOT of people hate the Warriors. Harden's choke narrative has followed him to the Nets and Philadelphia, so a lot of it has to do with Harden. Houston fans are also a bit defensive and easily offended compared to other cities - I've definitely noticed that and I think that has an impact on the writers and reporters in the media.
