The Bolt and Hyundai Kona SUVs aren't that expensive for what they offer.

Bolt has been around and you can find them used for half off (give or take a year from now...)

Fixing up a turbo charger at your home can be expensive, but you can still get a day's worth of commuting by charging at the plug overnight.

All this "expensive" BS against electric is to justify guzzling more gas than you need. Maybe you only want a Tesla to feel it's worthy of your status, but that's on you.

Ford even has an all electric F-150.

Hurr durr!! Too xpensive!! I haven't paid off muh other lease to Big Bertha! Libruhl garbage!!

I Rented an Electric Car for a Four-Day Road Trip. I Spent More Time Charging It Than I Did Sleeping.
Our writer drove from New Orleans to Chicago and back to test the feasibility of taking a road trip in an EV. She wouldn’t soon do it again.

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/i-rent...e-charging-it-than-i-did-sleeping-11654268401

    excerpt:

    Home, sweet $4-a-gallon home
At our hotel, we decide 4 hours of sleep is better than none, and set our alarms for 4 a.m.

We figure 11 hours should be plenty for a trip that would normally take half as long. That is, if absolutely everything goes right.

Miraculously, it does. At the McDonald’s where we stop for our first charge at 6 a.m., the charger zaps to life. The body shop and parts department director at Rogers-Dabbs Chevrolet in Brandon, Miss., comes out to unlock the charger for us with a keycard at 10 a.m. We’re thrilled we waited for business hours, realizing we can only charge while he’s there.

We pull into New Orleans 30 minutes before Mack’s shift starts—exhausted and grumpy.

The following week, I fill up my Jetta at a local Shell station. Gas is up to $4.08 a gallon.

I inhale deeply. Fumes never smelled so sweet.

One of the craziest things I never understood is why we don't recycle spent fuel rods. That would put the whole waste conversation largely to rest. Other countries do it with great success.

Well she's not the brightest of the bunch, but a gold star for being proud of it. We (royal tense) encourage pride.

Look, I assume we're all city slickers who take (took) commutes ranging 30-60 mins a trip. Even her own accounts had people "saving" from charging rather than overpaying.

So the charging system is not as resilient or robust as gas. No ****ing dino ****.

Don't take road trips on electric. Or find one that's ready for it. That's a luxury and it will cost more.

For daily routines, electric chargers are definitely cheaper.

They spent so much effort on propaganda like The China Syndrome I don't feel they can at any point claim to be pro nuclear.

Ironically, it's been the Dems that have done more for nuclear despite environmentalists. However, both parties have failed to invest in nuclear in any meaningful way. Trump increased the budget for research but stopped sort of the Yucca Mountain issue.

Why would anyone rent an electric car for a road trip?

I'm sure he knows a "guy".... but I'm pretty sure real conservatives prefer meth and heroin over cocaine.

I am reading an article that was just posted a few minutes ago. So go ahead keep blaming Biden instead of where the blame actually lies.

In the first quarter of last year, Shell posted $3.2 billion in profit. During the same period in 2022, its fortunes ballooned to $9.1 billion. Exxon Mobil netted $2.7 billion in 2021 Q1, a figure that skyrocketed to $8.8 billion in 2022 Q1. Chevron’s Q1 profit more than quadrupled — from $1.37 billion in 2021 to $6.5 billion in 2022. Altogether, the five oil giants have amassed 300% more in profits this year than they did this time last year.

Also, no one seems to mention all the refineries that shut down during COVID under Trump. The US is still a net exporter. Refinery capacity is at 94%. They actually have more oil than they are able to refine right now

US is producing more oil than ever in its history. The shortage isn't from US production, it's from OPEC.

That's Biden's fault. Biden is the reason OPEC cut production by 20 million barrels a day at Trump's request, Biden is the reason Putin invaded Ukraine, Biden is the reason China went into lockdown and cut output, Biden is the reason Covid hit the US, and its Biden's fault that you didn't win the lottery last night.

Got a problem? That answer is easy. Blame Biden!

That was nearly 50 years ago. Nuclear power hasn't really been a talking point for anyone in nearly 40 years.

If the democrats can go from the party of state rights to national power and the republicans can go from the party of fiscal responsibility to the party of spending; then positions on nuclear power can change as well.

I have no idea what the democrats will do in 6 months, I don't think they do either - but embracing nuclear power isn't something that they cannot do.

Corporate profit at it's highest in 50 years, gosh, I wonder if there is a correlation?

I think it is a decent experiment although maybe premature. At some point, families will own only electric cars and hopefully by then the infrastructure will be a better fit (charging stations).
