Balanced schedule to bring more Interleague games Teams will face their four division opponents 14 times each season -- seven home and seven away -- for a total of 56 games. They will also face the other 10 teams in their league six times apiece, playing a three-game set at each ballpark. Rather than 16 Interleague games, teams will have 46 such games on the schedule -- four against their geographic rival and three each against the other 14 teams, alternating ballparks annually. https://www.mlb.com/news/more-interleague-games-on-balanced-schedule For those like me who didnt know the details.
So that should mean Houston will play either 31 or 34 west coast games per season. Hopefully 8-10 of those would be day games, leaving somewhere between 20 and 30 games with 9pm starts. I still think that number should be closer to 10-15.
I wanted to comment further here. The first thing that comes to mind is who benefits and who doesn't. While there are probably several layers to unpack, I wanted to address one aspect, perhaps the most obvious. That being the fewer division games. My thinking says that teams that play in challenging divisions, say in the AL East or NL West, will benefit. Especially the last place teams. On the other hand, teams that play in weak divisions like the AL Central or NL East, will be more challenged. For the Astros, the AL West hasn't decided if its a good or weak division quite yet. But its leaning weak. So, who benefits in the AL? Yankees Red Sox Blue-Jays Rays Who doesnt? Twins Astros Sure, the final analysis requires considering more than this, but its an interesting snapshot.
Manfred made it Arizona and Colorado when the Astros moved to the AL. Don't you feel the excitement when we play those games against them?
You hate to see it. Phil Nevin interim coach, so they just moved from one grandstanding jerkoff to another.
And we were the worst team in baseball 10 years ago. The Guardians are a surprise given the number of star players they've had to trade away
