Draymond being a great defender has a lot to do with that. If he wasn't a defensive player of the year level defender his importance would go way down. And even with him having that defensive skill he was basically a non contributor to wins when he didn't have great shooters covering up his flaws the previous 2 seasons.
Sengun is extremely talented and has the right mentality to be a superstar. He is the perfect complement to Green unfortunately we will be getting Banchero. Banchero and Sengun arent a good front court they would be bad defensively cuz they cant switch on the perimeter and also arent block threats. On offense they get in each other's way as well cuz Sengun's playmaking is wasted if Banchero gonna be the playmaker. Both of them arent comfortable being primary 3 pt spacers so everybody gonna be in the midrange. Add KPJ and Green gonna be the only one spacing from 3 and thats jist a waste to reduce him to C and S 3. Rox need to choose between them imo and the other guy gets traded for Duren to complement our lineup.
What y'all need to be thinking if we do get lucky enough to get Banchero is what Sacramento had in the early 2000's - Divac and Webber If you get two guys who can post, rebound and pass you in rare company. On top of that, both Sengun and Banchero can knock down the three ball. Rockets are a 3&D player (and a great coach) away from having a similar roster to the King's glory days under Adelman. P.G. - Bibby --> Porter Jr. S.G. - Christie. --> 3&D specialist S.F. - Peja --> Green P.F. - Webber --> Banchero ..C - Divac. --> Sengun 6th man - Bobby Jackson --> Christopher Only reason they didn't get a ring was the league was outageously corrupt then and the refs cheated to let the Lakers win. That was a simultaneously great and terrible time to watch basketball.
were you able to imagine curry and the warriors dominating nba for the next 10 years in 2014 and the way they did it?
it means silas/culture is clueless/in the way or were not really interested in winning... rockets were losing games on purpose...playing more sengun and playing sengun to his strenghts wouldnt give them a top pick in this draft and would have messed up with chemistry because sengun would have won the roy and green would have been officially a bust...so they had to hold sengun back to preserve the hierarchy, the vested interests and the faces of decision makers....for gods sake these loonies have only recently(january or february if i recall well) officially allowed midrange into basketball...lolololol
As far as "not a rim protector", Sengun is top 20 in blocks per minute in the entire NBA, while being by far the youngest player in that list (only one similar in age is Evan Mobley).
Duren is not the answer. He’s small with no range. And I’m not choosing Banchero over Alp, under almost any circumstances.
can you cite the list? i suspect sengun is the only one being punished for playing defense and had playing time shortened and withdrawn as a result
You could easily look that up and I remember laughing at BTG for trying to tell folks they wouldn’t even make the playoffs
Dude's 6'11 with 7'0 wingspan. He is big enough, too big and he can't switch on the perimeter ala Gobert. Also he does have range, Duren has a mid range game, I don't know if he can stretch it to the 3 pt line but he does have range at the very least. We already have the answer, his name is jalen Green. We just need to surround him with talent that fits him, like Jalen Duren. Duren can be the defensive anchor while Green can be the offensive anchor, it's a match made in heaven. If you're choosing Sengun over Banchero then I see no reason not to trade down and get even more pieces around Green and Sengun. Kendall Brown, Jalen WIlliams, Tari Eason, Dalen Terry all these guys can supplement Green, Sengun and Duren. Duren is one of the youngest players in this draft that's why he isn't as dominant as the top 3 PFs but at his age he should have still be in high school. That's what's tantalizing about the kid he is playing vs kids a year older than he is and carved a nice niche for himself despite that.
We’ll see man. I just really doubt that he’ll be that guy. You can’t make that comparison. It’s just my opinion
duren stinks. I have no idea where casuals want to bring up this guy has range. Literally seen him all year in the AAC. He doesn't. I was intrigued at the beginning of the year to see if how he would develop. I laughed at him so many times for being guarded the way he does and at times when he put up a shot it was laughable. Folks literally make up narratives for guys they have never even seen before. it's amazing. It's one thing with players in the league. It's a whole other story with college and prospects where its clear people dont follow these guys
I’ll bet any amount of money he’s not even 6’10. He’s 6’9 at best And you might be the only person that thinks he has range
How's that any different from Bam and Robert Williams? Duren is 6'9 so with shoes he is 6'11. How do you know Banchero is really 6'10? I'd be happy if he was 6'7 barefoot.
That’s main reason I’m disappointed none of the big names measured. Duren looks really short next to Chet, but Chet could be taller than 7’ too
You don't follow Duren if you think he didn't develop from the start of the year to the end. The kid should be in high school right now so yeah he'd look a bit lost, don't you think? Spurs gonna pick him up and get a massive steal.
