I can't think of one. But let's not act like there's no risk with Wembanyana. https://www.eurohoops.net/en/nba-news/1353116/victor-wembanyama-done-for-the-season/
Your starting line up does not have a C level defensive player. We're gonna run into the same problem that we had last year, which was not being able to lock anyone down on defense.
If the Hornets hire D’Antoni, I’d have to figure they’d be even more interested in acquiring a stretch big like Wood.
I'm not sold on it either but i would do it under these conditions: 1) Whoever is available at #3 is evaluated by our scouts is lower ceiling than Barrett. 2) The scouts aren't fans of any potential free agent options a year from now. In this scenario we are giving up cap flexibility and the #3 pick. So if cap is a moot point and Barrett is better than Banchero then the downside is limited. If Banchero is thought of as highly as Barrett i keep the pick hands down... i lean best player in the scenario...
Bol Bol. I think Wemby is a slightly twitchier athlete but I think they are similar. I don’t think Bol Bol’s lack of success thus far should be counted against Wemby as I believe there is a team that will eventually unlock that skill set for Bol.
I’m not sure what would be reasonable to give up, but I would sure pick up the phone with Phoenix to see what Ayton cost. Maybe something. There, maybe not. But there is some due diligence due here.
3. Rockets: Chet Holmgren, F/C, Gonzaga https://www.si.com/nba/2022/06/06/n...smith-chet-holmgren-paolo-banchero-jaden-ivey
Dream line up: Heliocentric with Green in the middle. Green Poku Chet Bol bol Wemby. Jalen and his slim trees.
Bol Bol and even Poku are not starters. Maybe not for a while, if ever. Swap Bol Bol with Mobley. And Poku with Banchero.
Draft: Holmgrem and then one of Dieng/Eason/Mark Williams/Jalen Williams or Jaylin Williams at 17. Free agency? The only free agent that matters. Isaiah Hartenstein.
Whoever drafts Chet has to have made peace with his durability concerns. I have not and hope he's off the board when we draft.
I have realized that is what they will do this next season if they are able and it makes logistical sense. Which is continue giving up a ton of points while amassing talent. Then next offseason though whatever means avaliable (coaching changes, natural improvement with experience for the young players, draft, free agency) after that it will be a different team.
Me as well. It would be very fun cheering for the guy and he would perhaps be a great unique player to have next to green and company with all of the future assets they still have to fill out the team. For me: 1. Jabari 2/3 Paolo/Ivey 4. Chet
