Apparently Royals recalled Kris Bubic to start tonight. His era in 6 games is 12.83. Should score runs so of course he'll pitch shutout lol.
Inexperienced and pitchers who have struggled recently do seem to be an Achilles Heel for the Astros. I'd almost rather face Ohtani than a fresh face, struggling pitcher.
You gotta look beyond the result stats to see how good a pitcher is. The ERA is certainly ugly, but his FIP is only 9.00 so he's run into some bad luck.
I've heard people saying that for at least 30 years. It totally ignores all of the struggling/inexperienced pitchers that the Astros do well against, because those games don't stand out. I imagine fans from every team say similar stuff.
They are memorable, I grant you that. But in our case, they usually follow us beating their "good" pitcher and our anticipation of a sweep or at least a series win. But as you say, those could be selective memories.
It's like the old "the guy that makes a great play to end an inning, leads off the next inning" theory. It seems like it happens a lot because they never mention the many, many, many more times it doesn't happen.
Today would have been a good day to platoon Brantley for McCormick. But I'm sure suggesting this obvious move will be met with Dusty Sycophants declaring his genius for making such a bold non move.
@Buck Turgidson will keep score of Dusty vs. @Marshall Bryant I lost badly yesterday when I questioned the lineup
No. Garcia pitched 7 scoreless innings. but we don't score until the ninth. Then the Royals erupt for two runs and the walk off in the bottom of the ninth.
