The original story cites an unnamed source "familiar with the internal conversations" and says that was reason. DeSantis also opposes stricter gun control- DeSantis has in the past opposed stricter gun laws. As a candidate for governor in 2018, he came out against the gun control measures in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act, signed into law by then-Gov. Rick Scott, a Republican, after the mass school shooting in Parkland, Florida. DeSantis recently vowed to support legislation allowing people to carry guns in public without a permit. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/d...r-team-tweets-against-gun-violence/ar-AAY3hbK
Not allowing organizations and businesses to determine their own policies is the opposite of business friendly and small government. The exact opposite. DeSantis has consistently been against business.
LOL such nonsense. He is protecting handicapped people from insane overreach that is not based on science.
The Tallahassee Mussolini is totes pro business i read it on Elon's Twitter while browsing Il Stato Coroporativo trust me i am very importants guy about this stuffs
Seriously? Overreach not based on science? I disagree. It's more like overreach on telling people they can't require vaccinations because Republicans don't like the idea. Same with their overreach on school polices they disagree with because they don't like LGBQT discussion or books. Here's an article from May 2022 Overall, the risk of dying from Covid-19 is still about five times higher for unvaccinated people than it is for those vaccinated with at least their primary series, CDC data shows. But there's a significant disparity by level of vaccination, too: When adjusted for age, people vaccinated with only their initial series faced about three times greater risk of dying than those who also have their booster shot. The CDC encourages people to be "up-to-date" on Covid-19 vaccinations -- which includes getting boosters at the appropriate time -- but still defines a person to be "fully vaccinated" if they've received at least their initial vaccination series. https://www.kcra.com/article/more-covid-19-deaths-among-vaccinated/39970045
It's quite simple - the vaccine doesn't prevent transmission, therefore it is about self-protection. Even Bill Gates says it now. One used to get de-platformed on Twitter for stating this simple truth. Therefore, mandates aren't justified. People can make their own decision about their own bodies. It's pretty insane that more than two years into the pandemic, this still needs to be explained to people.
Uhm... It isn't pro-business. It isn't pro - small government. It's posts like these that make me wonder if you understand what 'pro-business' or 'small government' really means. Or do you just decide something is pro-buisness or small government, if it happens to agree with your own personal leanings?
Hey @FranchiseBlade just wondering if you had any thoughts on Robert F. Kennedy, Junior? In the past, some people on this message board have tried to discredit RFK Jr. sounding off about Syria and islam... or something by saying things like: in what seems to be using his kooky, insane antivax paranoia as a way of discrediting him, and then saying things like: That guy makes a good point - we should ignore antivax dimwits forever and to the extent they breakthrough infect the board - put their opinions in the biohazard bin, where they belong.
LOL... so they aren't perfect and saved millions of lives..... Covid rot your brain? Masks are child abuse!
Funny, Bill Gates is a medical expert now? It's pretty insane that you threw his opinion in. Still doesn't explain DeSantis' other cancel culture moves or Anti-LGBQT policies and discriminatory mandates or withdrawal of mental healthcare trauma victim support. That's all Government forcing people to not be able to live their lives or make opinions he doesn't agree with, or denying them help because he doesn't care much about them being traumatized in a mass shooting. Far worse than banning someone from tweeting.
Just listen to the CDC. https://www.audacy.com/kmox/news/national/cdc-director-says-vaccines-are-not-preventing-transmission
The point here in the context of mandates is that 1) even if one were to falsely assume (like you do) that the vaccines have a meaningful effect on reducing transmission, a good case can be made that vaccination is a personal health decision which isn't anyone else's business, 2) even more so once one understands (which you don't, but Bill Gates does) that the current vaccines are not effective at preventing transmission - the argument of "protecting others" goes out the window and 3) neither government nor private institutions/corporations should have a right to force you to undergo a medical procedure in order to have a right to partake in any activities. Your whole schtick of "oh it's a private company and DeSantis is anti-business" is ridiculous. It's state law, and that's a good thing. There is no alternative for handicapped athletes to participating in Special Olympics USA Games - it's not like they could say "oh, if you don't want my business, I go somewhere else". DeSantis has been exactly right in protecting citizens from anti-scientific overreach by private institutions demanding vaccinations and useless cloth masks. Note: I am pro vaccination, certainly for vulnerable people - but it should still be the individual's decision. Note: There is a big difference between being thankful for vaccines (me) and wanting to mandate them (not me).
P.S.: If DeSantis is anti gun control, then quite clearly, I massively disagree with him on that one.
