All series talk goes in here. Non series talk goes somewhere else. No PBP, that can be found from other sources if you need it. All games are broadcast on AT&T Sports SW unless otherwise noted.

    6-3 Jose Urquidy (R) vs. Brady Singer (R) 7:10

    6-4 Luis Garcia (R) vs. TBD 3:10

    6-5 Framber Valdez (L) vs. Jonathan Heasley (R) 1:10

Because the thread title is not misspelled, the astros will struggle against the royals.

Is that guy, who all by his lonesome beat us last year, still on the team? Can't remember his name. I just remember he stole like 500 bases against us.

Nicky Lopez (with help from Whit Merrifield). Yes, they're both still in KC.

    Nicky: .308 .357 .423 .780, 5-5 SB
    Whit: .313 .313 .531 .844; 2 2B, 3B, HR, 8 RBI, 2-3 SB

They won the season series 4-3.

This is a good day no matter what else happens. Apparent extension for Yordan.

The first World series that I watched and actually understood what was going on was the Royals and the Phillies 1980.

I wanted the Royals to win because of the Astros heartbreak loss to the Philles in the pennant.

(bring on the jokes about how I still don’t understand whats going on…actually pretty true lol)

As you may have expected, Yuli has been promoted to the 3 spot in tonights lineup. As well as Diaz ahead of Tucker and Peña.

Well, Yuli is 2-5 off Singer and the rest of the current Stros are 4-29, so obviously Dusty's playing the percentages, which is what smart managers do.

Hope Yuli has some continued success but so far this year past performance hasn't meant much for Yuli.

    Sometimes Dusty's wild-ass-lineup-choices work out.

Why am I snickering at that perfectly reasonable argument?

I was looking at Yuli’s Savant page and if you look at his swing/take it looks like he’s replaying the 2020 season. Getting killed by pitches outside the zone.

His strikeout rate is up about four percentage points, while his walk rate has halved and his hard-contact numbers have plummeted. Gurriel is also chasing more pitches off the plate (36.4% in 2022, 29.8% in 2021) and making contact on pitches out of the zone at a far lower rate (74.5% in 2022, 81.9% in 2021).

I get a kick out of the MLB.TV adds between half innings showing star players. The one with the announcer saying Juan Soto is the best player in MLB, by far. He’s hitting .223.

The combined exit velocity of those 3 outs is probably under a hundred.
