You are an ignorant fool if you truly believe that Zalensky is any kind of "champion for Democracy." As far as the war crimes assertions, it appears that those have probably been excessively and irresponsibly asserted by both us and the Russians.
Mojoman has apparently "enlightened" himself into being pro war criminal. Fascinating and terrifying to watch the radicalization of people.
There's a reason I have him on ignore and it's not due to his bizarre love for a Russian dictator who's more than willing to kill thousands of innocent Ukrainian civilians while maiming tens of thousands more in an effort to conquer a modern European country, one of the largest in Europe. It isn't because he seems to believe any and every lie being pumped out Putin's people and Putin himself. Propaganda that denies the murder of the elderly, the rape of large numbers of Ukrainian women, as well as the killing and wounding of Ukrainian children, with many of the youngsters who escaped physical damage being left to grow up dealing with the mental trauma of hiding in cellars and bomb shelters under constant bombardment from Russian shells and missiles. Perhaps he's so naïve and simple that he truly believes Putin's propaganda campaign. I can put up with that sort of thing. I'm a fast reader and am pretty good at "skimming" through posts, and you never know. I could learn something. No, as best I can recall, it's was a series of @MojoMan's posts from some years back that caused me to stop reading him entirely. If they are egregious and particularly offensive, that's what typically gets a member on my ignore list. After recently reading a few of his here out of curiosity, perhaps I've been "lucky" to miss most of them, although I'm normally up for a different perspective, even if I strongly disagree with the take.
The only way that Russia does not achieve their basic objectives here is if NATO and the west enters this conflict directly. The sanctions, embargoes, financial ostracization, etc., is causing our society and our working classes immense harm, while the Russians rack up record revenues from their natural resources due to the extremely high prices. We have no strategic interests in Ukraine and we have no alliance related obligations to Ukraine. This has turned into a proxy war between the west and Russia, apparently for the purpose of enabling the North Atlantic globalist elites to hold onto their imaginations and aspirations of ultimate geopolitical domination and control. Never mind that the Chinese are the real road block here to the achievement of these diabolical visions and plans. If the Russians start and finish a war of conquest without these people's tacit permission - which they clearly are not giving - then that will clearly establish that we are, just like always, in a multi-polar world where nations pursue their own interests, using war and other means, independent of any imagined 'rules based international order'. And then NATO, the US and the rest of these nations, and all the people that comprise this North Atlantic elitist cabal, will be forced to accept that they are just pieces on the board, and that they do not rule the world. They do not want that and this proxy war is being fought for the purpose of imposing their "world order" on Russia (and they will worry with China, India, the Middle East, and the rest later), or else they will be back to the drawing board. This is why your gas and food prices are so high. This is why they want to terrorize you into submission with routine flu-level pandemics, imposing lockdowns, mandates, and social ostracization. This is why they went scorched earth on President Trump. It is why the credibility of nearly all of our most important public institutions has been sacrificed and effectively destroyed, as they desperately strive to obtain and maintain domination and control. Our optimal response to the conflict in Russia was properly laid out in a speech by Henry Kissinger a few weeks ago, delivered to a disappointed crowd at the WEF gathering in Davos. His proposal, suffice it to say, is not congruent with their goals and plans. I will step out on a limb at this point and predict that Henry Kissinger will not be asked back to speak to this group, ever again. I could be wrong, but we will see. Henry Kissinger warns against escalating Russia-Ukraine conflict, urges peace talks Kissinger, at World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, warns about Ukraine war progressing into 'war against Russia itself' Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said this week that negotiations must get underway soon to end Russia's Ukraine war, in order to avoid "a war against Russia itself." "In my view, a movement towards negotiations on peace needs to begin in the next two months or so. The outcome of the war should be outlined by them before it creates upheavals and tensions that will be even harder to overcome, particularly between the eventual relationship of Russia towards Europe and of Ukraine towards Europe," Kissinger, 98, said at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, "Ideally, the dividing line should return to the status quo ante. I believe pursuing the war beyond that point could turn it into a war not about the freedom of Ukraine, which has been undertaken with great cohesion by NATO, but into a war against Russia itself, and so this seems to me to be the dividing line, that it is just impossible to define... It will be difficult." NATO and its allies have struggled to put forward a cohesive or unified front, with nations such as Italy and Hungary failing to crack down on Russian imports or separate themselves from Russian energy.
Russia invaded a Democracy in a non-defensive military war. It is in the interest of the United States and all Democracies to help put an end to Russia's aggression and make a stand with Democracy against non-Democratic Authoritarian nations attempting to increase their lands and power through unprovoked military force. Yet, you keep spewing propaganda for undemocratic authoritarian regime.
Kissinger has lost his place.....there is a reason he is discredited. If Putin is sick, this is a hang on until he dies moment....proxy wars have been going on for years. Vietnam, Korea, Afgahnastan, Syria..... DD
Knock the Russians back to their own borders....if they have longer range artillery they can knock out the Russian artillery and stop the advance.....and then counter attack effectively with Artillery, then advance, basically do exactly what the Russians are doing but in reverse. DD
You have a fundamentally inaccurate and flawed understanding of what is actually happening in Ukraine right now. If you got those ideas from CNN or MSNBC, that would certainly explain it. In any case, what you imagined above is not happening and it is not going to happen. The only way those sorts of results will be achieved is if NATO or the US basically declares war against Russia and then sends in its armed forces to get this done. Even then, it would not be a sure thing, as the current crew in charge at the Pentagon is a bunch of woke, deranged, ass-clown buffoons. This is the same group that managed the Afghanistan debacle, and going back to 2014, gave advice to Obama that led to Russia invading and annexing Crimea. The last thing any sane pro-American person wants is this crew trying to lead the US armed forces and NATO into a full-front war with Russia, effectively on their own home turf. These people are screw-ups and they are very likely to fail if they try to undertake such a task, and that is without taking into account the risk of nuclear war and the devastation this would cause across Europe, which are very excellent reasons on their own to not do this.
IMO that is not going to happen. the two states (Donetsk and Luhansk) will become puppet states of Russia and possibly join Russia at a later date. The EU is tired of the war and the problems it caused, US will not support Ukraine indefinitely either. A truce like in Korea will be negotiated at some point with minor skirmishes continuing in the foreseeable future. We can see if my prediction are right in about half a year, I expect the major hostility to stop before year end.
Russia has to get what it can before the start of winter. When it gets muddy and the ground hasn't totally frozen they will be bogged down. If the Ukrainians are still hanging on they will be able to build another significant line of defense and cause a bunch more casualties for the Russians. Until then I expect Putin to put his foot on the gas and gain every inch he can. Then try to negotiate a settlement with as much land in his control as possible.
I do think you are right here, but I don't think the Ukraine will agree to this - and will keep fighting......but I do think the EU in particular don't have the stomach for a long protracted war where they don't have access to Russian Oil and gas. DD
