It’s not really as irrational as you make it out. If Ivey is the BPA, which some believe not me, there is a rational for picking him up and using KPJ, Green, and Ivey in a 3 guard rotation where 2 of the 3 are on the floor all the time and all three when you are going small ball. It’s not my preference, but saying it is irrational is going too far. It really depends of who you believe on Ivey’s upside. Talking in absolutes about unproven draft picks and young players is more irrational, and you of all people on this board, should know that. Why not just give your opinion instead of calling those that might disagree idiots, stupid, etc.?

Chet gives me Darko Milicic vibes. If Ivey is available, take him. Shot blocking bigmen are easier to find than playmakers

It really is though. You'd be moving KPJ to the SF and having him run the point from there while adding a smaller less talented version of Green which makes both sides of the ball worse.

Ivey isn't a shooter, doesn't play defense, and he's not capable of running the point.....How many transition opportunities are you expecting? That's really his bread and butter..... but you have Green who does that better so you really wouldn't want Ivey to be stealing those from Green.

That's why imo the Ivey fetish is so strange, it's desperately trying to jam a square peg into a round hole.

It's even weirder when he's not even the BPA, when there's 3 guys better than him in the class and the Rockets are drafting 3rd. I just can't make any sense out of it unless the goal is to intentionally harm the team hoping they land another top pick next year.

To be clear, I'm not calling them idiots, I'm just pointing out how cognitive bias is causing them to say strange things

Problem is shot blocking big man that can score and put the ball on the floor is very hard to find. Also Ivey is scoring guard. That is actually more easy to find. And not all of them had success in NBA.

It really is more of the bpa vs fit analysis. That’s up to Stone. You are talking in absolutes like “Ivey isn’t a shooter, doesn’t play defense, and is not capable of running the point”. I’ll trust Stone to figure that out, but Ivey has the athletic capability (just like Green) to play good defense. He does have good shooting form and, at times, shot great from deep, and we don’t need him to run the point in our position less offense. You say he’s not the BPA, but you have been wrong in the past as we all have.

Thanks for defending those of us who think Ivey-Green-Porter can
coexist even if you have your doubts. Flip any two of them for tandem
action for 48 minutes of coverage with Josh Christopher.
    -----------------------------------------
    Player...................3P%......3PA (21/22)
    Porter.....................37.5%......6.8
    J Green..................34.3%......6.8
    Josh Christopher...29.6%.....2.6

    Tate.........................31.2%.....2.6
    Kenyon....................35.7%.....2.1
    -----------------------------------------------

Last 21 games of Jalen Green and Porter (21/22)
    Jalen Green: 40.4% (3P%)........7.9 (3PA)
    Kevin Porter: 37.0% (3P%)........8.2 (3PA)...5.1 (rebs)...2.6 (TOV)...19.5 (pts)...6.5 (Ast)
    ------------------------------------------------------------

    Catch-n-Shoot 3's (entire season 21/22)
    Jalen Green: 35.2% (3P%)......3.8 (3PA)
    Kevin Porter: 48.2% (3P%).....1.9 (3PA)

    J Christopher: 31.2% (3P%)...1.7 (3PA)
    Tate.................30.5% (3P%)...2.3 (3PA)
    Kenyon............35.8% (3P%)...2.1 (3PA)

Porter allows this to work as he was 5.1 rebs (there with many SF's in the league)
and 6.5 assists (there with many PG's in the league) in the last 21 games.

The Ivey jump shot is more of a set shot.....but so was Franz Wagner when he
was with Michigan. Franz changed his shot in one season. Not sure Ivey
needs to as Green, Porter and Josh Christopher will give him plenty of
    open 3's.

Here is the Wagner set shot coming from his chest

Seems like you were on to something lol. People on the other threads are starting to see Ivey Green backcourt vision. Interesting that many disagreed with you until info came out that Ivey is a now a draft possibility lol

Even if Ivey is the pick at #3, Stone needs to do everything he can to acquire Eason with #17.

    Including trade up.

Whether Ivey, Banchero, Smith or Holmgren - we also need Eason.

they are both tall and white!

otherwise they don’t strike me as similar at all but they do have that going for them!

He was referring to both being busts rather than their game or appearance I believe.

Regardless, i think he’s wrong. Chet’s going to be a good pro, the variability lies in how well his offense translates to the association. He will certainly be impactful on the defensive side of the ledger.

There's lots of busts. He went with Darko because he's tall and white. Anthony Bennet was also tall and white and a bust. Hasheem Thabeet. Etc.

Both are considered skilled bigmen but need "time to develop". We don't have time to wait

Darko seemed to come out of nowhere about 10 days before the draft. Being a foreign player, nobody was aware of him and he really raced up the board, I assume after individual team workouts or more intense scouting. Chet has been on the radar for years and has endured much scrutiny and remained a viable option at #1 overall. Much less bust potential than Darko.

I love how everyone starts speaking in absolutes near draft time.
