Need Presti to throw curve ball and draft either Ivey or Sharpe with #2. They can still draft a big at #12.
I could see him taking Paolo if he wants to start winning now. He can get a nice shooting guard at 12 as well.
I gave you a fact and you countered with age matters. FYI - the age difference between Chet and Paolo is minimal. They both have played exactly ONE college season. We are not talking about a Keegan Murray who played 4 seasons in NCAA. And age difference is critical if discussing experience gap or physical maturity. And in terms of physical maturity, Paolo has the advantage.
Chris Duarte was the 13th pick last year......as he turned 24 years of age. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/duartch01.html Keegan Murray turns 22 soon (Aug 19) Just saying
You're right, assumed he played more than 2 NCAA season because he will be 22 in August. 2 years older than Chet, 3 years older than Paolo.
@Squirtle on the pokemon comps. " Chet = Bulbasaur. Long stretchy appendages. Jabari = Squirtle. Shot is wet. Banchero = Charmander. Fire offensive game. "
He's a little over 1 year and 8 months older than Chet...I can understand rounding that up to 2. But he's only 2 years and 3 months older than Paolo, so calling that 3 years is obviously not accurate. Not trying to be a stickler, but when discussing an age gap of just a few years, being off by 9 months is a lot.
I really don’t get the infatuation with age for rookies. Take the best one. Their second contract will still only put them in the low 30’s.
Me neither. Player drafted age 22 gets 5 year rookie contract. That takes him to age 27. Players peak around age 27. Just in time for a team to decide whether they want to extend him another contract. Pacers will have Duarte under contract to age 29. Give him a 3 to 5 year contract after that if they want. 5-year tac on takes him to age 34. I don't see a big reason to draft a 19 year old kid accordingly. Players are still getting to age 34 and contributing. If a guy like Duarte isn't good enough.....the team still got him through his prime years.
Imagine if Rudy Gobert was not a switch liability. Especially in postseason play. That's Chet Holmgren. Who can also shoot 39% from 3P to boot.
is there really a scenario he drops to 3? I’ve stopped thinking about him on the rockets cause I just don’t see it. it’s virtually impossible for me to see OKC passing on him if the Magic do. Only remote reason is cause of their hard on for Wembaya but that requires so much luck. He strikes me as a really good fit for their team and frankly it sucks they could get him. I do not have a clue what OKC does if the Magic take Chet though.
Top 3 is a mystery to me too. I'm hoping Presti pulls a Presti and takes a curveball like Ivey or Sharpe. But then Stone will likely pull a Stone and still take Banchero even with Chet sitting there all wrapped up with a bow.
Jabari is the betting favorite to go first and if that happens all it takes is for Presti to pass on Chet. Looking at Presti's history it is not far fetched to think he will draft someone people don't expect him to. He also seems to take favor playmakers and Paolo is by far the best in that category of the big 3.
Chet is going #1. It will be interesting to see who goes #2. Presti is a wildcard. Anyone who thinks they know what he’s gonna do is fooling themself.
well it looks like he - Jabari - remains the odds on favorite. I don’t get it. Want Jabari over Paolo fine. But I don’t see how one says Jabari over Chet - they’re the more similar players and Chet seems to have way more upside but what do I know?? Personally I’d like to see Jabari go first since I have him 3rd.
