Honestly. We need a Centrist Party or something.

I look at both parties and each have they extremist kooks that seem to run it.

one side is telling me that everyone has a god given right to any and all arms - Even kids

the other side is telling me that 6 yr olds can choose their gender

Maybe those are just the loudest voice but d*mn
When do we get a common sense party?

Who are these so called moderates and WTF are they doing?

The Democrat party is the dentist party.

Just because you simplify a naunced issue about gender hormone therapy doesn't make the Democrat party extremist.

When it comes to economics, there is no leftist party in America.

The Democrat party is the giant umbrella party that has to cater towards any individual who isn't a white nationalist. That's a large ****ing umbrella.

    It was an example.
They appear to hang their hats on some extremist subjects and will die on those kills without compromise
Unless you support it all . .. you are considered the enemy

The media, and the rightwing media to an extreme, but not just outlets like Fox, the Washington Times, or the Federalist (the kind of sources @Os Trigonum loves to quote), tends to focus more attention on a handful of Democrats in Congress than they deserve, in my opinion. It can give the impression to some that they are the "leaders" of the Democratic Party. They are not. The party is a very large tent holding a cornucopia of views. Members like AOC represent just one component, and a relatively small one, at that.

As for the LBGTQ+ community, your quote about "6 year old's" is exactly the kind of gross exaggeration being pumped out by the Far Right that they want read by the American people. You repeating it doesn't do anyone any favors except for the trump's, the Abbott's, and the DeSantis's of the political spectrum. In my opinion.

You are buying into what they are selling, RR.

BS. No one that is at war with with the rich is a centrist. AOC is extreme. More attractive and smarter than the other side, but extreme.

Just thinking about how many moderate conservative Germans during the Weimar Republic thought the same thing. "both sides are the same". I'm sure millions of people like that existed.

You think both sides are "extreme".

Let's put it this way. Majority of GOP voters thinks that that Donald Trump rightfully won an election where he fell short by millions of votes when you accumulate all the deficits from each swing state.

So name me a equally extremist view by Democrat voters held by the majority of Democrat voters.

don't believe I've ever quoted or cited Fox or the Washington Examiner. If you can find examples of me "loving to quote" them, I'd be interested in seeing them.

I spent years a member of the MN Independence Party (MNIP). Other than getting Jesse Ventura elected, having a serving US Senator fill out the rest of Wellstone's term and a few state legislature seats not much got done. MNIP attracted both dissaffected Republicans and Democrats and candidates would frequently get endorsements from major news services like the Minneapolis Startribune.

What hurt us was that while the MNIP would oppose the Democrats on things like financing opposed Republicans on social issues. As the Minnesota GOP got taken over by the TEA Party with people like Michelle Bachmann leading it the differences between the MNIP and Democrats became much less noticeable compared to the differences with the Minnesota Republican party.

While the MNIP made overtures to other parties around the country without having a national party base it was hard to build up support for State and local races when Republican and Democratic candidates were both getting help from their national parties. This was most telling when the day after Tom Horner of the MNIP was endorsed by the Startribune for governor in 2010 John McCain announced he was coming to MN to campaign for the Republican and Obama announced he was coming to campaign for the Democrat.

Also the biggest success of the MNIP exposed a big problem with taking on the two main parties. Jesse Ventura's victory was driven by his fame and his outsized personality. His tenure as governor was primarily known for the same thing. His administration though was politically balanced and very pragmatic. He appointed very well respected members of both parties to key positions and focused far more on experience and qualifications than ideology in his judicial appointments. Even with no party loyalty in the Legislature he still got some significant legislative accomplishments done. Yet because almost all of the focus was on Ventura the character and not what actually governing much of the support for him didn't translate to other MNIP candidates. After Ventura almost all of the candidates for MNIP at the governor level were well respected technocrats but not very colorful.

Since then the stakes of governence have also gotten much greater. Mitch McConnell has shown how important it is to control the majority in the Senate. With our political system, winner take all electors in most states, and Presidents winning a minority of the popular vote show how important and fixed the two party structure is. With the GOP going not just TEA Party but a full on Nativist Protectionist party focused on personal loyalty to a con man makes those stakes even greater. The Democrats frequently frustrate me and in my heart I would still love to see a pragmatic centrist party the stakes are too great now.

My bad. I meant the Washington Times. I'll edit. As for Fox, Fox represents the kind of source you appear to favor, simply because you rarely, if ever, come out and openly disagree with their incredibly dishonest "reporting." God knows, they give any sane, educated individual good reason to do so day after day after day, and somehow, you can't be bothered. Why? It's certainly a mystery to me.

The modern left and right are both extremes, hell this section of this chat is an echo chamber for far left it seems, with a few far right characters.
I agree with you man, this two party system is so far away from moderate it’s ridiculous.
