a cops job is to make it home to their family at night Thats the sad state of things . these guys bill themselves as heroes when the truth is they are just as , if not more , cowardly as the rest of us . how would I have acted in that situation .. I don’t know . a lot of doctors were scared during Covid , not knowing if they would themselves be exposed to a deadly disease ... still many found the balls to show up to work . you said you have family that are police . I’ll stop trying to change your mind because it’s clear that that bias is overwhelming. these are the same police that would gun down unarmed suspects because they are juiced to the gills and have a fight or flight response . (And they pick fight ) it’s getting harder and harder to not defend the ACAB sentiment . There might be 1/10 cops who are good people and care about the community and throw themselves into the job of policing and try to do things right . Then the other 9/10 are feckless p*****s who become cops in order to flex on others
I wanted it to be different, especially for the parents benefit knowing everything that could be done - was at least attempted, but all the newer reports just kept getting worse and worse. I waited to start posting for a few days until I got more info and normally don't come to the D&D but this one got me really frustrated.
I couldn't figure out why the DPS Director was acting so strange at the start of the conference -- he was choking back tears and shaking. I'm not sure I've ever seen the leader of a major law enforcement agency dress down and be so completely blunt placing blame on another LEO right after a major event.
You think the teacher who propped open the exterior door still has a job? It's hard to believe that, just 3 minutes (edit: it was 6 minutes) after propping the door open, the gunman entered the same door. What are those odds? 1 in 10,000,000?
Wait we are asking a guy making what $25-$30 an hour to rush into a situation when they are outgunned? I mean, yes, that is the job, but that is not a reasonable expectation of human behavior. Police are basically trained to have the ONLY gun in the situation and are basically societies bullies - they aren't used to facing like armed folks or worse people more heavily armed. When we as a society won't deal with the ACTUAL issue of too many guns, access to assault rifles, and seem to blame mental health when other countries have the same mental health issues and schools yet don't have massacres, we will continue to see them. We have to realize that ONE PARTY is blocking this country from moving forward, we can't expect the words written in 1789 to hold up forever, they had single shot bore riftles back then, and women couldn't vote, blacks were 3/5ths of a person - which is why they had the foresight to allow the constitution to be amended - we need to AMEND IT.... Guns are the problem anything else is a distraction, get rid of assault style weapons to start and go from there......GUNS are the problem - the ease in which they are acquired. GUNS - nothing else is relevant. As for the police - they are the same as anyone, trying to survive, do a job, head home, avoid conflict.....expecting them to rush in and save the day - ain't going to happen. DD
19 vs 1 is outgunned? then stop bullying parents and get out of the way let people in who will do the job. they eventually did this when people with functioning balls went in and the cowards got out of the way of the border guards.
Exactly. The debate that you can send a kid off to war with a gun, but won't allow one to own one will always be a problem. AR-15's however should be different.
So what have we learned. 1. Preventing crime is not the job or top priority of cops. Protecting their own neck is. 2. The cops have zero accountability ever. They are there to generate revenue through tickets, bully the poor and minority, and collect Graff. Rocket River
If this is accurate then it's simply inexcusable that their were 19 cops sitting outside in the hallway while this is happening. Imagine it was you're kid calling you crying for help but not only are the cops stopping you from trying to help but they themselves are doing nothing for damn near an hour.
I am not standing up for the cops....I agree, but I am saying that most of the people are are in law enforcement are not the sharpest knives in the drawer, and aren't the cream of the crop society wise....they are slightly better than a security guard. I just think believing they have any ability to be more than what they really are - is unrealistic.....these guys aren't heroes, most of them couldn't get a job in corporate America because they aren't all that sharp.....why do we expect them to rush in and fight an armed gunman? It is not reasonable, and the reason we need to stop the availability of guns. DD
You are making a great case to stop issuing these cowardly, useless, unemployable, criminal fools: handguns, carbines, shotguns, flashbangs, armored personnel carriers, night vision, and qualified immunity to do whatever they want with it. They have no legal obligation to protect anyone!
What's the point of having the big budgets, enough tactical gear to invade a small country, the staffing, etc if when **** gets real, and it's time to act......they go into "self-preservation mode" and have paralysis by analysis?? I'm SURE there's a middle ground between "go in guns blazing, consequences be damned" and "sit back and let 19 children get massacred by an evil psychopath". If 19 officers couldn't figure out what that middle ground was in a timely manner, wtf are they doing there?? At the end of the day, if your training doesn't equip you with the tools to put the greater good ahead of yourself, maybe you shouldn't be a LEO. And I don't give a **** if you have family, or friends, or you yourself are a cop. I'll tell you that straight to your face.
If cops are basically dumb as rocks and don’t really care to protect and serve, but rather just protect themselves, why do so many people take these mentally challenged people at their word? Hell, they’ve been caught lying so much already regarding this mass shooting, did they actually kill the shooter when they finally went in, or did he take his own life? I knew these cops were full of sh*t when they said a supposed resource officer at the school had engaged the shooter, but no shots were fired. Tf? Did he say hello and escort him into the building then? What do u mean engaged but no shots fired? Then we find out there was never any officer there to begin with…
The truth hurts....most cops are not all that smart - and being a cop is sort of the bottom of the barrel job wise.....not exactly taking a risk and being a successful business person is it? It is a generalization, but it is still true. There are exceptions to everything, but being a cop is not a great job, neither is being in the military - these are low hanging fruit jobs for the poor and uneducated primarily. It used to be a good job, but standards have slipped so far.....make it a requirement that a recruit have at least an associates degree and watch standards rise. No, that is their job, I am saying that it is not reasonable to expect them to run into a gun fight - because they are more into self preservation than they are to saving kids. Just setting expectations.......I think we should demilitarize police, and we should outlaw Assault weapons - and limit gun capacities, eliminate gun shows, every gun must be licensed, every sale must require a background check etc....
