Historical look. NBA's #17th pick in last thirty years. Number of years with first team (how long the team kept them) Bolded - core starter material. Homerun hit at 17th: 23% (7 of 30) success rate for GMs. Bust-ability - a bit subjective. Even being kind to journeyman, at least 60% are busts, gone from the league after just a few years. Year Player Year(s) with first team Year(s) in league 2021 Trey Murphy III 1 1 (meh - 14 min per game) 2020 Aleksej Pokusevski 2 2 (early bust potential - 20 min per game) 2019 Nickeil A. The San Antonio deal isn’t something we should judge without going through the first 16 picks in the draft. It’s nice to have it in your back pocket if all your guys are gone at 17. Only then do you pull the trigger.
Apache squaw, You sure like calling people who disagree with you idiots and morons .... that's classy. I'm glad you put me on ignore, I take that as a compliment.
Just remember you aint in love with the kid lol Only posts a wall of text and several videos and gets in a snit telling me to do my hw on a scrub with bad ankles, bad attitude, low combine scores and low college nos. Cosch K loved him in high school doubt he loved Baldwin's 26% 3 pt and bad defense/hustle in college. Ok so you're not sure if has bad ankles. So either he is really a slow ass unathletic scrub or he is critically injured and just waiting to get drafted and that guaranteed money before he sits out due to inury. Neither of those are appealing outcomes for 17. FWIW I did watch his college scouting reports and all of them say he is a bad defensive player who avoided contact. We dont need that type of player on the team esp if we land Banchero. I'd take him if the Rox trade bsck and theres no one else goid available but hell no at 17.
I would love Jovic if we land Smith or Chet. That would be an awesome fit. Paired with Banchero? KPJ / Green / Jovic / Banchero / Sengun or Wood? We better score 130+ a night.
No I'm not in love with the kid....this is more about who knows more about basketball? Me or you and palmsbanana (probably the same two clowns) Karma works in a strange way...... Sacramento moves up and takes Banchero... Sabonis gets injured in off-season.... DaVion Mitchell gets hurt in off season.... Banchero gets double, triple, quadruple teamed as he becomes 1st, 2nd and 3rd option on offense..... Banchero puts put god awful numbers as a result... Somebody says, "That guy sucks, he is a complete bust, pure trash!"..... You say, wait now, the guy had no help, no spacing what so ever because of injuries... He had COVID....ankle got tweaked....double/triple teamed!!!!! -------------- That's when someone says, "That's what ApacheWarrior was trying to tell your dumb #$$ with Patrick Baldwin !!!!!!!!!" "But you didn't want to listen." and that's why he (ApacheWarrior) gave up and put you on "ignore" He tried to edumacate the un-edumacatable. Gave up. You lack the vision to superimpose one player to another team and vice-versa. Like walking in another person's shoes before making judgement calls. And obviously never played the game. Or you would understand 1 vs 4 does not work. And when Baldwin passed the ball.....his teammates sucked.
Trade Wood and the #17 for Portland's #7. Dyson can play from the 1 to the 3 and a good 2 way player who can shoot.
I think the complementary fit between Daniels and Green would be phenomenal. I do wonder if Portland wouldn't want to add Josh Christopher to that deal as well. KPJ Daniels Nix Green Gordon Matthews Tate Martin Queen Banchero Garuba Sengun Fernando Another tactic might be you could see if Portland would take more proven players and keep your #17 in hand. For example, the trade offer could be a Tate-Wood-Christopher and next year's Milwaukee pick for #7. The target then might be Eason who would look really nice next to Green and Banchero. KPJ Nix Green Gordon Matthews Eason Martin Queen Banchero Garuba Sengun Fernando If you got this far, the front office would then have a huge decision to make. Do they like the kind of player that could fall to them at #17, or would they want to try and swap the #17 to move up three or four places? Would you roll the dice and try and move up?
Some guy reported that Eason isn't having good workouts at Locked on Thunder. I hope he will drop down to 17 for us. Lucas can fix his shooting form.
I agree about Lucas. But be wary of anything you hear from teams between now and the draft. Lots of BS being flung now.
