Reeko has no answer to my counter point; and has continued to move the goal post to divert attention away from his ignorant claim

You're correct in that the Democrats message sucks. But that has more to do with over promising and under delivering.

Taking credit for the low unemployment is foolish. Wages are lagging behind CPI. The greatest gift to the Republican was losing the 2020 election.

you're talking about the Trump admin, pre-pandemic, cos he had inherited a sound economy from Obama.

Taking credit for low unemployment is good messaging and should be hammered.

Getting us past the worst of the pandemic is another point that should be hammered. It's a huge success.

The Democrats should be hyping all of this while contrasting what things would be like if the GOP had their way.

The Democrats should be taking the offensive on the immigration plight and driving home the mass of immigrants that would have been processed and placed or deported had not the Republicans acted time and time again to reduce staff and refuse personnel that would have been able to process the cases.

Democrats did the deeds and just assume people will remember and apply common sense. That doesn't happen. Wages have gone up more than under Republican president. Unemployment is down. All of that is good news. But the Democrats should use the inflation to put fear in the hearts of voters... Fear of Trump like policies which increased our trade deficit with China while at the same time serving the powerful who abused their positions and connections.

Take those messages and hammer them over and over.

None of these things matter because democrats are bad at messaging.

Why don't democrats get credit for anything anymore?

It's all about what they have not done.

Its really simple and out of Bidens control for the most part.

90% of republicans will never approve of a democrat.
You have a pocket of progressives who never wanted Biden and think he will never be progressive enough.
    Inflation caused by covid
    Gas prices

The fact that he is still getting 42% is kind of amazing considering how crappy everything else is, no amount of messaging is going to change 45% of those that will never approve of Biden and inflation/gas prices going down will move about 10% into the positive.

President's approval ratings mean little at random times because everybody gets a chance to vent their frustrations in polls like this.

Would you vote your approval of Biden?

    and the latest…

Lackluster support from Democrats is one big reason that Pres. Biden’s job approval ratings are the lowest of his presidency. Since April of 2021, Biden’s net job approval rating among Democrats in surveys from Quinnipiac, Marist, Washington Post/ABC and Gallup, has dropped between 15 and 20 points. Last spring and summer, Biden’s approval ratings among Democrats were in the 90-94 percent range. Today, they are in the mid-to-high 70 percent range. In other words, Biden’s grades have slipped from an “A” to a “C” among his own voters.

now approval ratings don’t mean much when that’s all Democrats could talk about when Trump’s approval rating was down in the basement…

Biden literally losing support from his own coalition of voters as the days go by…

Biden passed the almighty Infrastructure Bill, yet approval among Democrats continues to decline, so what impact did that have?

You prob won't see much until that money starts drying up years later. Takes time to fix roads. This whole inflation and labor/supply shortage thing will make progress slower than Obama's. He didn't win/keep many votes with his stimulus bill either...

That many Republicans who voted against the Infrastructure Bill are touting it's benefits shows that it's popular. That is a message that the Democrats need to push hard.

That is a very good point and I look at it as more a reflection of how divided the country is.

I will say again that Biden shouldn't be making decisions on polls especially this far out. Most of the problems he's facing aren't things that can be changed in the short term and the focus should be on long term benefit than handwringing over daily polls.

There Has to Be a Backup Plan. There’s a Backup Plan, Right?
Inside the 2024 soul-searching that’s happening in every corner of the Democratic Party.

    https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2022/05/biden-2024-democrats-search-for-alternative.html

    excerpt:

The lobbyists, donors, staffers, and elected officials were gathering for the spring policy meeting of the Democratic Governors Association [in April], and the scheduled sessions concerned such topics as health care and diversity in governance. But between panel discussions, in the hallways and at the cocktail reception on the lawn, conversation shifted from grim — the midterms — to grimmer: the state of the party’s planning for 2024, when Biden will stand for reelection on the eve of his 82nd birthday.

    ***
He did get Trump out of D.C. and away from the nuclear football. But after the immediate crisis slunk away to Palm Beach, Biden’s presidency passed from early success into torpor, dragged down by a chaotic exit from Afghanistan, sometimes shocking rises in prices, and the determination of two senators from his own party to block his grandest legislation, all while the virus lingered longer than expected. It became clear that Biden’s bridge, to consider his analogy on its terms, wasn’t built to completion at the far side. For liberal and progressive voters, the cognitive dissonance has been significant. It is possible for Democrats to feel profound gratitude to Biden for vanquishing Trump and even to love some of his work as president (Ukraine, vaccines, Ketanji Brown Jackson) and at the same time to retain an intense feeling of unease about a visibly aging 79-year-old whose Republican opponents are only growing more extremist.

I will be surprised if Biden runs again. It will be shameful if the best this country can do is two unpopular 80-year-olds to say nothing of their personal attributes.
