QUESTION: What are you feelings on Ankle Weights? I been wearing them for the last 3~4 weeks. They are only 1.5 lbs. But thinking to move up to 2 lbs for the next 4 weeks then 4 lbs then 5 Maybe Top off at 100 . . .depends on how i feel (I wear them on the treadmill too) I kind of get contradictory input about them Rocket River
So I am looking for a program that will burn fat and get lean muscle I have liked circuit training because I can finish pretty quickly, and it keeps my heart rate up. I would like to split it up between body parts each days, arms, chest/back legs, would like to do machines and then start free weights as I get in better shape. Any sites or videos I should be watching? What's a good tracking site to keep changes on. I am not a beginner, I have a moderate know how of weight training. @Xerobull
Doing Soccer in high school many years ago I would wear them during drills and take them off during scrimmage so as not to injure myself. I actually think it made me faster and able to react quicker. I'm pretty sure it would not have made me stronger but then, it was 5-10 pounds per leg, no more than that as swinging too much weight was considerable risk of injury.
Fully support people working out and eating better for health, late video but this cracked me up. Home gym + various gym memberships myself.
Funny. No clue what Equinox is. People from NY are from another planet. I literally thought this guy was from some Eastern European country at first.
Been doing the Paul Sklar Xfit program for about 10 months at my friend's very extensive home gym 4-5 days a week. This is by far the longest I've ever stuck to a program. Helps that I'm working out with friends. I wish I was losing weight but this being a weight training program, I've stayed the same weight but gotten much stronger that I likely ever have been. I need to focus more on cutting some pounds so I'll probably change it up some and just work on my not-so-great eating habits. Would be awesome if I can maintain the strength and drop 20-30 lbs.
It’s actually a common misconception but the same workout you do to build muscle is the same workout you do to lose fat. Your calories are going to determine if you gain, lose or maintain. It’s like people thinking there’s “espresso” beans and “coffee” beans. Same bean, different brew methods.
I am still chugging along. Debating on seeking professional help on the weight training. Weight loss kind of plataeued But it's only been a couple of weeks. I am trying to lose the weight But I want to build the muscle under the fat I need two things I think Most: core training and stretching training I think my limited range of motion maybe an issue A strong core would help overall health Aside: hot yoga still ain't no punk But I want to do it more often Rocket River
Awesome man! Your weight loss curve is intersecting your muscle increase. That’s why the mirror and the way your clothes fit is a far better indicator than a scale. (BMI is complete bullshit too) I agree that stretching and core are vital. Form, breathing and stretching will help you reach new heights as well as feel overall better all the time.
I think this will be a good thread to share overall health and fitness tips, community knowledge benefits everyone. If you are plateauing like others have said it may be muscle and fat intersecting. Also, I have had times when I lost a significant amount of weight or was in training, and when I plateaued what worked for me was a small uptick in what I was doing. For example, if you have a baseline foundation of fitness at this point. Start adding one small instance of HIIT in your workouts then slowly increase. Also, you can move up one small tick in your diet. Use myfitnesspal app to track your calories/nutrients each day (this was big for me), or if you already use it, reduce your calories by 50-100. Talk to your nutritionist or doctor of course and make sure you have the proper nutrients or macros for health. Get more deep sleep, set a drinking water goal each day, foam roll etc. Lastly, the more I learn from people who reached their goals, use up the free resources you have, but then never hesitate to invest in yourself to go to another level. A trainer, nutritionist, consultant etc. Vet them of course but get someone or a community to help if you can.
Good information. I think I am lacking on Sleep. I also Cheat on the weekends. Even my cheating doesn't look like my normal days of the past I been wearing 1.5 lbs ankle weights I am looking to up that to the 4lbs Added more weight training . . i had just being doing cardio The My Fitness Pal app is great Mad it does not sync to my Samsung Health app May try one of the ones it recommends Rocket River
I moved up to 4 lbs ankle weights but I started reading about them messing with your joints. I could kind of feel it. So . . . Switching to a weighted vest. Trying to not be impatient and over do it. BUT! I want results!! Honestly now I think the next step is definitely MORE DIETARY DISCIPLINE Rocket River
I have plateua'd but that's ok Cause I am not gaining Mainly because I have been so so in the discipline Been distracted by LIFE .. . .. ripping and running Getting back upon the horse. Refocusing and getting back to Good . Rocket River
Like I said in the other thread, kettlebells man. Cardio, a little weightlifting and some movement stuff that's a kettlebell in a nutshell. I'm sore in all the in-between places, all the stabilizing muscles I'm sure. I wasn't ready for how well it works out the whole kit. Big believer in full body workouts too, split days are how I end up overdoing it, hurting myself and falling off the horse.
7/7/2022 Well . . . I am working through life but still pushing forward. I thought I plateau'd but maybe not so much I am down to consistent 325 (it kind of varies from like 322 to 329 but mainly around 325) So I a feeling decent. I know I can turn it up but life beening lifing . .. (deaths and sicknesses and obligations) I ain't gonna beat myself up about it cause I am still moving forward I came off two diabetes medicines and only on two (Jardiance and Trulicity) I ran out of Trulicity and decided to try and see how it went without it My glucose was between 110 and 165 . . will spike up to 220 when I eat something overly sugary (it comes down quickly) I wake up and my Glucose is around 110 . . .. on the Trulicity it would be around 85 The glucose stayed between 85 - 140 on Trulicity I am still in the zone of healthy but still a notch up (doc still wants me to stay on it but . . .. It was my own experiment and I am bone headed) I got more Trulicity so I will start up again next week The crazy thing is. . . I was good on it until like Wednesday of the week without . .. and then BOOM CRAVINGS UP THE WHAZZZOOOO . .. I just felt like a smoker needing a cigarette Fell of the wagon!! I finally got it under some control but it took a few days. . . i was unprepared. SO! That said. Still got a little more life to go through but I am thinking of doing the 100 Squat a day for 30 days challenge Trying to get these legs and knees in shape. Cardio is good . . but time to get these muscles up no weight on the squats for right now . . .. Rocket River
Losing some weight and trying a few new methods that have had good results. -Drink water and have a salad with each meal (learned from fitness competitors about this) -Bought under-desk stationary bike pedals, in addition to normal workouts I do it when I have downtime or studying emails. It adds up a bit for calories burned each day. -Add (Good) fitness influencers to my social media who add real value. I added a workout expert but emphasized adding several good nutritionists. They say immersive learning is the best for learning a language, you can immerse yourself in positive influences/activities for health and other things, and create your own team of mentors.
Good Plans Maximizing the water and salad will push stuff through you more quickly The under desk thing is interesting. (Not overly expensive at all) I think the Weight Vest is doing wonders for me along with the Intermittent fasting I agree . . .small calorie burning things add up over the course of a day Rocket River
Got a little neglectful over the last month. Late June/Early July is a very festive time at the Xerobull house- my wife and myself have birthdays, then our anniversary and 4th of July. I feel like crap when I start to put on weight, and I'm starting a new job, so I'm redoubling my efforts to stay fit and try to hit that magic 32-inch waist mark, which is right around 210lbs.
