Just tossing out the idea: Suns want a solid bench guard to back up Booker. They need cap space for this. Sign and trade Ayton and Payne for Wood. Saric coming back next year for them will provide a nice amount of muscle. Wood fits their scheme better than Ayton. We get a center for the next 5 years. We get the perfect backup PG. I'm sure there's some other salary dump stuff that are needed on both sides, but is this trade in the realm of possibilities? We become instant play in seed contenders and are locked for the rebuild for a chip. Draft Banchero, might have to give up #17, but the team will look like this: Tate/Garuba Banchero/KMJ KPJ/Payne Green/Christopher Ayton/Sengun I assume Gordon will be traded, maybe even Wall. Big limiting factor is that if we don't trade Gordon or Wall we have to wait until next year to open the wallet. To be honest, I'm not in love with Ayton. Just curious what might be in the realm of possibilities on the likely side.
in my opinion there are 29 teams that Wood would make better . . . and literally 100s of international teams
You got 3 dudes in your starting lineup who can't really shoot (Ayton Banchero Tate) I dunno... If we were getting Jabari Smith then trading for Ayton might make more sense (if the Suns liked Wood that much?) - but probably not Payne as well
You don't sign a center that can't switch to a Max contact especially when we are still rebuilding we don't even know what pieces to keep.
took me a bit to know the positions order. also a nightmare for tillmen's monies. we need him to save as much monies as possible
Wood and Tate for Ayton would be a better roster fit for the Rockets. I think if we get Ayton, you really cross your fingers that Jabari is there at 3.
Wood is not better than Ayton and definitely would not make the Suns better. swapping Ayton with Wood is laughable for PHX and would epitomize why bad owners are so harmful
One article said the King's (4th), Indiana (6th) and Blazers (7th) are most likely to trade their picks. I think if we could swing a deal with Portland surrounding Wood for the 7th that would be a huge upgrade. Then package the 17th along with a future Pick to move up into the 12 - 14 range. With the 3rd pick take Banchero or Smith, whoever lands there. (6-10) With the 7th Pick take Eason (6-8) With the 12th - 14th Pick take Williams (7-0) If they walk away with Smith, Eason and Williams that defense would be SOLID!!
