yes, and i said "not saying Ivey better than Paolo". if Stone thinks Banchero is the best player left at #3 he'll take Banchero. but it'll be because he thinks Paolo is the best player available, not because the Rockets need 4s and 5s. if Stone believes Ivey is the better player he'll pick Ivey, or trade down 1-2 spots to get Ivey plus more assets if available btw, Porter Jr., is exactly as you mentioned "not a true point guard that seeks to get his own shot"
Looking at all four teams in the conference finals, which one got there because they have a dominant "big man" playing 4/5? Yea, not one. They are all guard dominant teams. Draymont Green is the most dominant big man out there.
It makes sense to me too, but the problem is we may end up having to draft whoever is number three on our board.
If we do get Ivey, we need to get rid of either KPJ or Jaygup so the question becomes whether or not anyone thinks he will be better than either of those 2 players.
During his draft lottery day spaces @Clutch mentioned that he believes the Rockets have Chet ranked at the top of their list. Unless I heard him wrong I think that's what he said.
I can see us taking Ivey @ 3. Our backcourt would be THE backcourt of the future. Focus on length afterwards.
i think Clutch wanted Mobley last year right? Mobley turns out to be great, but the team drafted J.Green and i think they're right
It’s not semantics and I wasn’t trying to make it a thing but the reason I mentioned it is because it goes against the point you were making. Usually when people mention redundancy it is offensively. You mentioned the guards on the team being redundant with Ivey and compared it to Sengun and Paolo. That’s a separate issue because they don’t really do the same things. I think the concern (and imo a valid one) is their pairing on defense as a 4/5 together. That’s not really the same concern as drafting Ivey when you already have Green, KPJ, and JC.
Yeah, like I said I don’t know why he thinks the Rockets have Chet at the top of their list. Could just be a full on opinion like the rest of us.
I’m assuming KPJ would still play point, so where would Ivey play? Are u expecting a 3 guard lineup of KPJ, Ivey and Green?
I like this. Even tho the Rockets could use a versatile big who can shoot the 3 or put the ball on the ground, I believe the talent of Ivey and Green could be a dynamic core / duo for years to come. The kind of duo that would attract future stars to want to sign . I would NOT be mad at this pick
