I had loose joints so I was constantly getting mild sprains. But there are much worse sprains that do not compare which could set you back further than a broken bone.

But I was told by the national media when Springer left the window was closing. Or was it when Cole left? Maybe when Correa left?

Thus far, the division is NOT better than previous seasons. West has always had 1) a team that somewhat challenged the Astros 2) a couple of .500 squads and 3) a bottom dweller

Of course things can change but currently the divisional dynamic is the exact same as previous seasons

It's fun to talk about guys like Pena and Luis Garcia being "window extenders," but maybe Jose Altuve is also a "window extender." He's having a very impressive age 32 season for a short middle infielder. .880 OPS. I think a lot of incorrect perceptions were formed about Altuve in 2020 in the wake of the cheating scandal and his .629 OPS on the wrong side of 30. Maybe the fact that out of the last 9 years, 2020 being his only one with an OPS under .800 should hold more weight.

If he's a 5-6 WAR second baseman instead of a 2-3 WAR second baseman over the next 2.5 years, that's pretty huge for the team. And it's hard to see him not extending in 2025 to finish his career here - maybe it's not a courtesy Biggio extension and he can be a capable first division starter even on his last contract.

Good point. Altuve is looking like he will still be a star level player thru his current contract which means he will probably justify one more substantial contract. He is unquestionably the face the the franchise and if he get to 3000 hits will be a hall of famer and likely the best most recognizable player in franchise history. Hopefully he and the Astros recognize that and ensure he’s an Astro for life.

Lets see how his arm is. There is a real chance he is never the same.

It really is impressive what a unicorn Altuve is. Every time you get a slight inkling of downturn, his little ass finds a way.

If I would have told you a few years ago that Altuve was gonna be hitting .258, one would assume abject disaster, but he's done more than enough to compensate.

His arm was never that good to begin with. I distinctly remember a few throws that weren’t so good. Chas always had a better arm from what I’ve seen.

That does not align with what I’ve seen and read on him. His arm was excellent pre-injury and if it is permanently downgraded that will have a significant impact on his defensive value which would put a lot of pressure on his bat.

Chas has the weakest arm of current Astros OFers. Meyers' was very good.

Trash cans will affect Altuve's HOF much more than <3000

If he gets to 3000 bet he does. He will have to spend a little time in purgatory but he will end up there.

I really do think once all the guys from that era start retiring the opinion of that scandal will soften and Altuve specifically will be almost fully exonerated.
