Look I don't go around on this board sticking my neck out for random draft prospects, but whenever I do the results speak for themselves like here and here. The Rockets will be picking Jaden Ivey on draft night because it's an absolute no-brainer. The NBA is a guard dominated league. Of the 4 remaining teams in the playoffs -- Heat, Celtics, Warriors, Mavericks -- no team has a player 6-10 or taller averaging more than 25 minutes in these playoffs. So, when you have the opportunity to draft an elite guard with incredible explosiveness, excellent ability to finish at the rim, and tremendous athleticism reminiscent of Ja Morant, then you have no choice but to draft him and pair him with Jalen Green to create the best young backcourt in the NBA.
Jaden Ivey over either Chet, Pablo, or Jabari would be a massive mistake. Rockets can't screw this up. Simply take whatever is left between Chet, Pablo, or Jabari. Ivey is too big of a gamble with the third pick and we have too many guards already.
Okay but who are J.J. Watt and DeShaun Watson? They must have busted because I can't even remember them.
I wouldn't mind Ivey if they thought he was the best player available. I have faith in Stone and the crew.
Lol yeah, drafting Ivey at #3 would definitely be indicative of no brains. Not only would he not be BPA, but it would be picking a guy who would be absolutely buried in the depth chart for his entire rookie contract because we already have 2 better versions of him on the roster.
