They hit 9 game leading off HRs last year. Altuve 7, Correa 1, Siri 1.

Every single time, they scored more than 1 run.

They have hit 5 leadoff HRs this year. Altuve 4, Chas 1. Yesterday was the first time it happened.

ok how about in the playoffs? Also, maybe they got their other run late when it didn’t matter anymore in some of those games. There is a reason why yesterday felt so familiar.

what was their record in those games and how many runs did they score after the first inning. It was a running joke in my house against the Nats and the Braves about going up in the first inning only to never score again.

No leadoff HRs in the postseason last year.

You're the one who thinks this is familiar. Tell us what you find.

Scoring in the 1st and getting shut down the rest of the game is normal for the Astros. Maybe its not always via the home run. It did happen against the rays and nats and it does happen a lot throughout the year.

And before someone says “it happens to everyone” , I think it happens to us more. Its not a trend that I have ever noticed with any astro team until the last few years.

You cant honestly say that it hasn’t frustrated you in the past. The astros scoring easily in the 1st and then nothing the rest of the game.

Of course it's frustrating when THAT happens. But all I did was do the research for you and answer the question and situation you posted. And I also answered that getting shut out after a game leading off HR didn't seem familiar to me.

I'm in no way saying you should or shouldn't feel the way you do.

And Im sure the numbers support it too. Just gotta look harder I guess. There’s a reason we are jokingly pessimistic after a hr or quick score in the first inning around here and in my house and with my astro friends. Im telling you there is a rich tapestry of proof, my friend. Somewhere. Out there.

It's like you just missed what those guys have actually done in the playoffs and base everything on this one bad outing.

    Makes total sense.

I guess it just awakens those bad memories I have of the bats going dead when it mattered most.

Proven TOR pitchers get rocked in the postseason all the time too. Verlander is something like 0-5 in the World Series I think?
